Your hire date is when? I’m guessing I was hired far before you and you are thinking of someone else..
Keep in mind the poster…. He’s been here less time than me by a few months and has every opportunity to leave but claims he’s too far into it… thats a load of malarkey if I ever heard it. Just go if it’s so bad… 2nd year pay at UA/DL is equal to our 3rd year and only climbs from there. Really no excuse to not leave if it’s so awful.

It’s pretty easy to just give people factual answers to their employment questions about AS. Sadly these factual answers should dissuade any rational pilot from seeking employment at AS.
The thing is there isn’t going to be a lack of applicants. There’s a whole group of pilots who have always wanted to work at Alaska “ever since I was a kid.”
It’s the main reason our contract is so substandard. I sincerely wish someone else had called but they didn’t.
Hopefully there are enough of us to change this regional feed, credit card company into a major airline. But I’m not sure I see that happening either.

I’d just be happy if one dynamic changed: as one captain put it “we work harder on our vacation months than any other month.”
Our work days are worth 5.5 hours and vacation days 3.5
We always have to meet a minimum of 75 hours.
This is possibly one of the worst aspects of our work rules.

But you can trade individual vacation days and scatter them throughout the year!

It would be important for a prospective pilot to know that the vacation value is actually less than 64% of what is advertised.
Kind of like how our pay rate is reduced to 58% for online training….
Facts about our contract are most important for pilots who are considering working here. I think with only 3 years at Delta one can hold SEA. United’s jr base is SFO on the 737. We don’t really have anything special with our bases.
