Yeah there is that, but it was inevitable that all airlines are tightening up on everything they possibly can. But paid LOAs to mitigate furlough are unprecedented as far as I know and actually quite generous when considered in historical perspective.

I certainly agree with you there.

I for one appreciate shorter overnights, when I’m at work I want to fly not sit in Hotels!

If the FA’s want that then go become one...
I don’t get why some characters like long overnights,, you either don’t like your home life or you are you are doing something you shouldn’t be😉.

What I don’t like is early shows and late get offs since those are not necessary and just spiteful!

I'm not sure why you guys are fixated on long overnights. The companies idea of an efficient pairing very rarely corresponds to what is good for us. Personally, I'm betting that part 117 rest and duty rules are all we're probably going to get going forward.

Even that can be good if you drive to work in major metro-area traffic.

Many flights are only 1x day. Something like PIT. There were times when the Airbus was doing it that it was a full 24 hr layover in PIT, but there were also occasions when you would fly out and DH back (or DH out and fly back). Makes for a long day either way but as long it is legal and fits 117, are these the kinds of changes we can expect coming? It would suck to lose those kinds of layovers. I don't have a problem with a 24 hr layover when it's in the mid/east coast where you arrive 4-6pm and then leave 4-6pm the next day. If it's an east coast flight, it still ends up racking good flight time per day.

Have as many SEA overnights as possible, on the Bus you can then be defacto reserve. Someone calls out sick for a 7am flight the next day? You have been reassigned now in SEA today and you'll do that flight tomorrow. Your flight at 10 am can then be recovered by a LA/SF reserve who DHs up on a 6am flight to SEA and off they go. This is one way to have 30 Buses in SEA and still do it with pilot bases only in SF and LA.

The absolute worst thing for QOL will happen going forward. That is the only thing that will happen for a long time. It's why I bid for all the EILs.

Innocuous reasons for liking long overnights:

Party if you're single!!

Finish up homework/assignments related to a course.

Visit your kids more often because you're divorced and they're in that layover city.

Visit friends and family.

Sightsee or enjoy the food if the city is famous for that.

Explore business opportunities.

Just to reset on a long 4-day or greater trip.

Default AS hiring people with failed check rides?

This question is directed to preferably someone who is or knows personally anyone on the AS hiring panel:

I have a friend who unfortunately did not pass her CFII checkride today.

Does anyone know if AS does/has hire anyone with multiple check ride failures?

Thanks in advance!
