Alaska Air Hiring
If its money your worried about with our contract you can make just as much money on reserve as you can with a line minus per-diem. If its commuting your worried about then reserve actually goes pretty senior and you can get a line pretty fast if your willing to bid all the lines.

I was hired last Jul, OE in Oct, reserve in Nov in ANC, held in a line in Dec and since. I am getting good lines and trades to improve them, too ... Had 10 days in a row off this month!

Obviously money is a concern as it will certainly be a pay cut for day 1. Good to hear that you can do OK on reserve. Quality of life is also an important consideration as my kids are pretty young. I may or may not have a choice of bases when I eventually go to class, but I at least want to be well educated as far as what to expect. Currently living in ANC, but our family would like to get to SEA area at some point in the future. Kind of weighing wether we would be better off to just make the jump to SEA now and avoid having to get a place to stay during training, or if we would be better off bidding ANC and getting off reserve quicker.

I think moving to Seattle would be best. You'll have a home during training and that is where most of the movement is and even if you dont get it right away youll be able to get it in less than a year. Although i don't have the crystal ball so anything could happen and Anchorage tends to be the most junior base.

On the flip side, I'd stay. Hard as it is on your wife, being home during initial is a distraction when you need to focus. Lots to be said for living in the junior base as a new hire, and it would give you an opportunity to assess your for real take home before buying a house in Seattle.

Personally, in your situation, I'd stay in ANC a couple years.
First, you'll be senior faster, hold better lines, make more money. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to sell back vacation, trip trade to increase your line thus make more money.
That will make your ability to afford the move to SEA come faster.
You'll have more time at home with the family in ANC as well. As long as the family can stand living in ANC, you're golden.

Oshkosh
Does anyone have any info on which days Alaska Recruitment is attending Oshkosh Airventure 2015?
Oshkosh Airventure is Monday July 20 - Sunday July 26. Wondering if they will be attending all days? Or leaving early, or arriving late maybe? Thank you in advance for your help.
