Good to know. Thanks for the advice Pogey.

That sounds good, I'm glad they are making that change. Systems is all 100% Pelesys CBT. Might as well get it beforehand and knock it out before you even show up. It's one less thing to do when you're trying to learn everything else.

I wonder if they know about your wonderful representation of them on here given that everyone knows who you are.

Hello to all future Virgin America reserve holders. What Shyguy said about reserve is pretty much spot on. I sit short call reserve in SFO and for me, it isn't to bad. I live only about an hour from base and have rarely been called out to fly with the two hour minimum notice. I believe LCR notice is now going to 14hr. 75 hour monthly guarantee. 11-12 days off per month. The most days you will get off in a row is four unless you can deal/swap/trade with another reserve guy/gal. I have NEVER broken guarantee but July might be the first time I actually get close. Overall, I can say reserve is not to difficult to manage but I have to believe that my relative location to SFO is a big factor. If you guys/gals have any questions you can PM me.

Thanks for the info Brian, I myself will be driving from San Jose so it's good to know reserve is doable with that kind of a drive. What is the typical length of time from call till show do you get?

I never got a desperation call that I needed to be there in 2 hrs. Usually, I knew well ahead of time when my flight would be. Although not always the case, sometimes I knew the day before that I had a trip the next reserve day. If it was the same day I usually got 3-4+ hrs beforehand. Again, remember that 2 hrs is technically the short callout so wherever you live/crashpad be available within 2 hrs.

The shortest I got was right at two hours. Happened once. Generally speaking you will get anywhere from 6 to 18 hours notice. As with the reserve life at any airline, results will vary.

From my place to the airport is usually 35-40 min without traffic and 1 hour to 1:20 with traffic. Is it pretty easy/fast getting from the emp. parking to the crew room/gate? As long as I have everything packed and ready to go, I don't think it should be too hard to do the 2 hr. callout which sounds like a rarity anyway.

You're golden, since you are a local. Parking lot shuttles run every 15 minutes, 00/15/30/45 past the hour, and it takes about 6 minutes to get to Terminal 2 and another 6-7 to get to the crew room.

Sounds about right. I give myself an hour and a half between leaving the house and checking in. Sometimes two hours if its right in the middle of rush hour.
