I was a July hire. From class start to type ride was just over 4 weeks.
First week is indoc stuff. You'll have the weekend off but you are required to jumpseat on two flights so most of us did it that weekend off. The second week was systems and practicing flows.

After that we started on the touch screen flight decks. You do 7 of those I believe, then the oral. From class start to oral was 3 weeks.

Two days off and then Miami (for my class at least) for sims. I believe it was six or seven sims then the type ride, followed by three LOFTs. I then had about a week off before doing IOE.

I found the training here to be good. There are no gotchas from examiners. No one is out to get you. Instructors were good and easy to get in contact with. It's set up for you to pass, just gotta put in the work. My class would meet after/before our SITs and go over systems. The instructors would come in to these sessions too and help explain things.

Speaking of LOFTs...I go back in the box for my recurrent LOFT next month. As it's my first one, anyone got info on what to expect? V1 cuts, engine fires, oral exam, MV? Or is it just a ABC-DEF flight with something thrown in?

Everyone until now hasn’t been scheduled according to the Alaska training rules. From now on, it’s mandatory so nothing will be scheduled like the way everyone else has done.

We used to do six days straight and Alaska work rules do not permit that. I don’t think anyone can say how the new footprint will look like.

Hey Snuffy,

Your PT will be ABC to DEF with events thrown in. There are several variations. Major system failures, Air data, V1 cut to name a few. Ask around on the line. It is training but it is best to be ready for a PC if your partner calls in sick or misses the commute in from an out base to be with you. In that case you get a seat sub and the PC format to make it legal.

Thanks for the info. At least that gives me an idea, even if it's changing some. I don't live on the west coast, so I'm not really planning to make it home during training. It'll be a pleasant surprise if I'm able to.

RLOFT is not bad at all. I did my first one 2 months ago. It is a great refresher and wasn't crazy at all.

Delta doesn’t know what they are doing! They are successful...😉... nobody wants Airbuses, they are cramped, loud, old... wait, what?
73’s are soo much better, old technology, small crammed Cockpit, we love it😂

While pilots may prefer the bus, the pax aren't sophisticated enough to know the difference between one NB and another. They just know it's not an RJ.
