The questionnaire doesn't come automatically. Most get it after a job fair or having an internal email sent on your behalf.

Used to be almost everyone who got a questionnaire would get called for the in person intrerview but that doesn't seem to be the magic next step anymore.

I've read in previous posts that the interviewers may ask who has flown on Virgin and what their greatest takeaway was. How important is it that one ride on a Virgin branded airplane before an interview? I realize it might help, but it may not be possible for some. Does anyone think that would be a show-stopper?

It sure helps to have a story to tell in the interview. When I went up to interview, I specifically flew on the company so I had an idea what it was all about. I'm not sure how much it helped for them while I was interviewing, but it certainly helped me feel more comfortable about what I was talking about. Talk to folks on the flight. Get names. Remember them. Use them in your interview. It helps. It's a small company and I think they appreciate that you made that effort. I got the job. I've left since then, but the interview is pretty straight forward. It's heavily HR intensive, so work that angle. They specifically asked about your experience on VX flights. So, make the effort. If you've got to connect in an airport to fly up to SFO for the interview on VX, it's probably worth your effort if you want the job. Best of luck.

Do not get names, that is so cheesy. In fact the one guy who read off names of the crew who were on his plane going to the interview didn't get a CJO. 2 or 3 hadn't flown Virgin and they were hired. It helps to have a story but not a deal breaker.

YMMV, but "reading names off in an interview" and "remembering them and using them as part of your experience on the airline" are two different things. There's nothing "cheesy" about acknowledging the efforts of the employees at the company you're about to interview at. All of them were far more helpful than they needed to be when they learned why I was flying up that day.

anybody know which bases were handed out to new hires on the June 19th class? Which method is used as of late? Age? SS number?

Side note, several during my interview had not flown on VA, myself included. Most of us got class dates.

Based on the latest award, it seems newhires do get sent to the NY base, and then they bid out to west coast bases. 4 very junior/new hires bid out of NY to SF/LA. The 4 were not replaced, so more new hires will be sent to NY most likely.

The upgrades have hit Jan 2012 hires, but again that's 5.5 yrs for those hired 5.5 years ago. Who knows what the future holds with the merger.

I would think it's not that important anymore since the VX product and experience is going away. I mean we've all flown on different airlines and they're all kind of the same.
