Haha not 27. Currently only 24. Hoping to start a career somewhere where I can possibly put out over 35+ years. Very true I'm not quite sure how I did on the assessment but I never got a rejection letter or a TBNT email either. Just crossing my fingers and hoping for that call one day. I really have my apps out everywhere but VX is in my top 4 choices being I live minutes from SFO

From what I recall they don't send TBNT emails unless you interview. Just make sure you follow the appropriate channels to get noticed. What I mean is keep plugging away and go to job fairs and stuff like that. Don't try to get a short cut like some other clown on here tried to by asking for hr email addresses, show up at our headquarters to drop off a resume or hang around outside with a sign asking for a job. People have tried that in the past.

Default Crashpad

I'm a new hire in the Jan 4 class for VX and I'm sure this has been brought up in pervious pages, but was wondering what the housing situation was for VX training. I understand we have to fend for ourselves, so, where do people crash? Also, I was going to drive my car out, is there a big problem with parking during ground school and sim?
Thanks for any help and I'm looking forward to class.

Hey pilot207, I first filled out the app and did the test about 9mos. ago. I interviewed Oct. 1st and notified that I got the position end of nov. Told about class last week. So, its a fairly long process, for some. I say that, because a guy in my interview class was called last minute, like 36 hrs prior to our interview and was hired and in the late nov class. I have a friend in class now that was hired in July/Aug and was offered class in mid-dec. There could be mitigating circumstances for each person, may be how quickly they can research the person and how fast the background check comes back?! Good luck and if you need anything let me know.

No problem parking your car at the sim or HQ (where gs is held). However, VX gives you a rental car, that you share with your partner, during sim training. So depending on where you live, you might just want to leave your car where it is.

As for where to crash, people in my class stayed at the Red Roof Inn. Most got their own room, but I know 2 guys who doubled up to save some money. But I dont know how viable that still is. It seems like the red roof rates kee going up. There are a few crashpads, but I dont have info on those. You can also check craigslist to see if anyone is renting out a room for a month or 2.

Good luck and welcome.

You are only 24, so you will need to wait for 3 or so years before you are the ideal candidate. Also do not upgrade during that time frame, otherwise you will remain at 2 out of 3.

Thanks waterboy. Did anyone take up VX on the NASA lodge at Moffitt Field? That's why I may drive, just to get around?!

Moffett to Burlingame is a haul, to do it everyday. G/S is 8-5, so you are driving in peak rush hour. Though I am not sure if you are with traffic or against it.
And Don't quote me but I believe it's about $92/night there. That's not cheap to do for 2 months.

As for the car, I brought mine. I was just trying to inform you that you will get one half the time you are there. So if you lived somewhere other than the west coast it might not be worth it to Drive it out here.

It's $65 a night. The traffic is really bad after 645 am so I would plan to be driving by 630. The evenings are rough too. Most people would grab dinner and come back to the training center and study till around 8pm.
