is that a good thing? Clearing the way for mass consolidation of a route structure fully staffed, likely over staffed by our standards, that's hemorrhaging cash like a stuck pig. Our only hope was gov intervention to keep the structure relatively intact and prevent mass cross bidding.

nice try. claiming the bottom is in for HA is a nice negotiating point for the SLI with zero evidence. VA folks have claimed the same thing for the last 8 years.
If the bottom was in, and the future was bright, would they have sold for such a "rock bottom price"?
Obviously the answer is no. You avoided starting over at the bottom of a regionals seniority list. Congratulations.

So now, can we all get along and be a happy family? Only the #1 pilot should be happy with the SLI, and that ain't me.

- VA was profitable in their last quarter
- VA would have been better off if they had been bought by JB
- VA was going to get 787's and push across the pacific
- VA "I flew 6 days per month and made 450k/year
- VA bla bla bla bla bla 737 sucks bla bla bla bla
Everything that went wrong in their world was because Alaska bought them. This will be no different. In fact it will be worse. Because what else.....787s. When the AS seniority list gets wrecked in the SLI.....yeah but 787's. When upgrade times push way out....yeah but 787's. When every west coast vacancy is filled by a person senior to you but with less TOS.....but 787s. When our conservative business model is thrown away and the economy takes a dump.....yeah but 787s.
I'm super happy for you if you are senior enough or jr enough to benefit from the few potential benefits of this merger. On behalf of the middle 75% of the AS seniority list.....buh by
PS. "Unity" is just another word used to control your behavior and ensure adhearance to a narrative....like "patriotism"
PS PS. I ran 3 miles outside this morning, I didn't all of a sudden get excited about this merger.
