Vs. a narrowbody pilot getting bumped out of their base by a widebody pilot that should be junior to them but isn't? How is that any better?

Granted that's a much better rationale for a seniority bump than the, "We're superior WB pilots because of our superior aircraft and therefore have more important career expectations than you lowly NB pilots. You don't even have tray tables!" that I've heard before. That's pretty grating.

I like HNL transfer to AS base unlocks a reciprocal transfer to the islands.

That's probably the consensus answer, since that's the whole reason I find the concept of a seniority bonus so repelling. The can have their seniority as long as it stays on the WBs.

Nothing more consistent than Alaska pilots worrying about the economy. Must be election season again.

Let's hope that the rumors of BM and ST in Toulouse are true.

I'd bet every single pilot on Alyeska that lives in fear of "the economy" can't even define recession without looking it up on Google.

WB CA here commuting off the WC... I don't want your seat. I would rather keep commuting to HNL to stay on the WB, than fly the 737 from HOME. I'm OK with that as an individial. You keep your seat and and bid seniority in type, I keep my seat and bid seniority in type.

Is that a equipment fence? Good luck to us all.

Don’t take it personal. A wide body pilot has the expectation of a certain pay rate, a certain type of schedule, and a certain type of qol that is not afforded to a narrow body pilot. To help mitigate being bumped by a senior NB pilot they will and should get a bump in seniority to protect them from that happening for a time. It’ll be up to the arbitrator to decide just how much that bump will be. Getting all twisted up about that eventuality doesn’t do anyone any good.

This is ironic coming from the chicken little in chief.
