Felt like it was worth piping up to clarify a couple things I read
Not exactly a 100% paid commute. It's basically only out of Class B airports (ATL, AUS, BOS, BWI, CLT, CVG, DCA, DEN, DFW, DTW, EWR, FLL, IAD, IAH, JFK, LAS, LAX, LGA, MIA, MCO, MSP, ORD, PHL, PHX, SLC, RSW, SEA, SFO, & TPA, nothing more) and only 4 one-way tickets per month. It's a neat perk for sure, but if you live in a city that's not one of the gateways, you have to jumpseat or drive and if all your trips start and end in CVG, it's only good for 2 round trips.
Not saying for a ssecond that I'm in favor of a B-scale, but I'm not sure if your numbers are correct. The freighter scale is 96% of the passenger scale. Comparing with what's on APC for Alaska, the pay rates are higher than the 737
That's not even remotely true. There are problably 100+ guys that commute from the east coast and have 12+ years of seniority. With the paid commutes they'd be glad to have an east coast adjacent base. Especially the LAX and SFO guys. VX hired young and there's only 40ish retirements a year.

The freight B scale exists because the a330 was a b-scale to the new 787s. The contract banded the 330pax to the 787 and left the Freight behind.

Im curious about your "the DHL/Deutsche Post cr@p again" comment.

The survival, correct me if I get this wrong but when ATSG came around, killed ATA, maybe World Airways and North American, all while absorbing newly branded ABX to fly contract flying for DHL(Deutsche Post).
Just how it relates to us is my curiosity of his reference.

Does it make sense to lower the Minimum monthly Guarantee further and delete the B scale? Especially if many people are already breaking guarantee on a line?

I am curious as to how far back he was referring to Deutsche Post, regarding DHL being sold off to DP, and the rebranding to Astar. I remember all the Airbourne Express DC9s parked at the, at that time new DHL ramp, certainly bizarre to witness.

then filed bankruptcy. Atsg did not even know who they were, and they had totally
different customers.

That’s why Delta still flies them?
Regardless, there is no other airplane in passenger service that can do what the 717 does interisland. The BR715 is unmatched in its ability to handle the rigors of quick turn interisland flying. You can’t replicate the 717 schedule with 737’s and not have engine failure issues (ask anyone from Aloha).

Delta still flies them because there’s nothing at the moment that can replace them. As far as quick turning 737’s yea not sure where you’re getting that from Alaska does it daily in the SE and while the Rolls engines are pretty stellar they’re not the gem you’re making them out to be especially being such a small operator of them.

Two things different about the SE ops.... it's cold outside, and those planes get rotated out to fly longer legs also, so the engines get a break.
