Just got done with a trip flying with a SEA LCA

She said no downgrades in sept but looks like 25 displacements from ANC and ding 25 sfo slots to help re balance

bud in late July to re balance bases

RIP junior ANC folks

Wouldn't a displacement bid cause downgrades? Via the churn? Or is that just a reduction bid?

This would cause issues for SEA FO’s as well. The most junior ANC FO is more senior than the bottom 25 SEA FO’s. Seems like the most likely outcome.

No just a FO reduction. So where those FOs lanf (cause they get their first pick after being displaced) the bottom 25 of where ever the displaced ANC choose to be based the bottom at that place will be displaced and land in sfo

-25 anc fo
+25 sfo fo bid

This is great news. I might actually get to drop a trip in SFO now that ARC won’t be denying me…

I kid, I kid 🫤

They'd be stoopid to furlough. Industry-wide hiring will resume next year, assuming boeing starts firing on more than one or two cylinders. AS would find it hard to attract or retain pilots if they were known to furlough at every business hiccup.

What if they just hired to fill the needed vacancies in SFO? Instead of effing with other bases pilots?
Crazy idea, I know.

There’s a spreadsheet that says hiring would cost more.

This. The ULCCs are brutal in how they shift flying and change base sizes as a result, when they could just deadhead reservists to other bases for a 3 day trip. Wrecking lifestyles and creating instability and uncertainty will cause major attrition below the 25%line.

The spreadsheet is nearsighted and I'd hope Alaska doesnt follow Mesa logic.
