My guess is a combination of that and commuteres getting converted to short call and not commuting in, or commuting in late. At least that's what I read from the tea leaves that were being hammered on.

That will be the plight of every junior base at every airline. UAL, AAL, DAL are back to hiring. People being frustrated at being junior based, don't know how airlines work.

Sure but there's movement everywhere else, that's my point. Why would you come here to fly a 73 in SFO For years possibly when you can go do whatever you want within a year or so at United?

So what should we do? Not hire because people might leave for United? Close SFO? What do you propose?

Stop trying to grow SFO to an unsustainable size. The left seat staffing isn't a problem because that tends to be where most of the long range commuters go. Why would you come here as a new FO if you were going to commute accross the country? This isn't really rocket science.

The displacement will be the result of all the “held in excess” returning to the line (FT instructors, etc…). Now that the company no longer has contractural guardrails on how many NSL instructors we have, there is little incentive to keep seniority list instructors around. Also, the company is now saying there will be basically no training for all of 2025. We all know that’s impossible…it’s a way to put a pin in things until the merger goes through. The rumor has it, Alaska wants their guys to be able to staff the freighter flying also…

Maybe Alaska can bid on the 737 freight flying that Atlas gave up for Amazon.

Any guess on why HA is down over 6% after hours? I can't find any news reports.
