just for clarification purposes. Hawaiians interisland pilots don’t need to wear ties and nobody does on the 717. I think on the 321 ties are optional during a period in the summer months. Hat wearing is not enforced much at all. We are allowed to have facial hair that is well groomed.

if these things don’t continue with the merger I’m quoting!! (Sarcasm)

seriously though, ties suck!

The tie has been optional for a bunch of us for years! Only goes back on when we transit through the mothership, Mon-Fri, 8-5

Hat and jacket enforcement is also nonexistent at Alaska, we do have to wear ties, however. They keep telling us no beards, when they reliably get asked on the monthly conference call.

I wasn't here for all the VX drama that continues to this day on here, but I hope the AS/HA merger doesn't produce the same long lasting grief for people on either side.

Dont worry. JB/nk closing arguments were today and it didn’t give me warm and fuzzy for approval. If it doesn’t get approved then AS/HA is DOA. The DOJ certainly making a big point about NK being ULCC but overlap was also a big part of their argument and AS/HA have a lot of overlap. Don’t they? Nevermind any rational person knows an airline can move assets and routes regardless of a merger.

The DOJ is on a tear right now trying to squash anything they can. They will be emboldened if the win the nk/JB case.

Apparently we don't have that much overlap. I think 12 flights was the number thrown out there. I think they're gonna push that fact pretty hard. Plus, we're both smaller niche carriers with similar price structures. We'll see what kind of grace that buys us...

AS/HA only has 3% overlap. JB/NK is much much more…

Maybe if we all start using the tie as it was originally intended, the company will realize we don't look so sharp with a bunch of dirty napkins wrapped around our necks and strike it from the "required" uniform.

I just zip up my transition jacket and stroll in to work.
