RIP to an otherwise interesting thread, at least for APC.

Are you familiar with HA’s commuter policy? Only one flight required to arrive before report time if you have a confirmed Jumpseat listing. Also covers non-flight commuters (car, train, bus).

No but apparently they held the fate of the merger.

anyhoots. Yeah HAL got a decent commuter clause in an loa. Curious how it stacks up against United’s specifically.

That sounds pretty sweet. How does one get a confirmed jumpseat listing? First come first serve? By seniority? Must it be on company metal or does a regional count?

Jumpseat listing is locked in seniority order at 24 hours prior, so you know you have a confirmed Jumpseat. If it’s not on company metal (confirmed Jumpseat) you must have a back up flight (2 flights) that arrives prior to report. A confirmed ticket is also included in the policy if you were to buy a ticket (which covers our freight pilots and their commuter allowance).

Best we can do is the opportunity to publically announce in advance your intention to list for the jumpseat at the gate, thereby ensuring that the other people that want the jumpseat know they have to get there earlier than you because the seat is still awarded FCFS

This works really well. Even being one of the more senior guys, I'm all for this. It gets everybody to list earlier and lets the junior guys know if they're gonna have a chance of getting on or not the day before. No last minute surprises at the gate. Seniority is 100% honored. Just make sure you list more than 24 hours out. The nice thing about the 24 hours, is that if the flight starts filling up with JS', then you can see it in advance and come up with other plans.

With FCFS up to flight closure, no one really knows unless you're the #1 pilot on the list. Hard pass. Done that before. IMHO, the 24 hour lock is the way to go.

I’ll take that every day and twice on Sunday.

I wonder how far along the process is with the DOT? I’m surprised they’re dragging their feet…

Was wondering if the DOJ wanted to avoid bad optics from another blocked merger involving a distressed company so they got the DOT to do the dirty work with a block?
