Not saying this will happen, but I've read some news in the past where the DOJ sued after a transaction was completed and after giving their blessing.

There wasn't much of a "blessing" here, more like loud silence.

Wanted to clarify, probably not what is happening but the news isn't very exciting... and as you said there aren't champagne corks hiting the ceiling yet

Divestitures I'm pretty sure fall under DOJ, based on federal anti-trust law, and they already passed on that.

The DOT is bound by the airline deregulation act... they are actually precluded from meddling in routes, marketing, and other business factors. They should be focused fundamentally on safety.

Such a lawsuit would have to be based on something, like non-compliance with the original proposal.

At this point it looks very much like Trump will win, so the current bureaucrats might be wracking their brains to figure out how to leverage their authority to throw a wrench in the works, before they get their walking papers.

Or this merger is not anticompetitive and benefits the consumer in broad day light. Also local politics beat Biden politics. Trump ain’t gonna win.

Full disclosure I don't like Trump and never voted for him, so some of you can safe your triggers now. I'm speculating on what the bureaucrats might be thinking, not predicting anything.

We're not going down the partisan road, but my college room mate congressman (D) thinks that it will be Trump, and that's what a lot of folks in DC are resigned to apparently. Not getting into the media fluff and all of that but it's looking like 2016 again so I wouldn't necessarily believe what you see in the news.

The VP is obviously a more electable candidate than the obviously impaired P, so it is more of a contest than it was a couple months ago.

I never assumed you were for trump. Your mind is too lucid and grounded in reality, but Biden has dropped out and things are changing fast and the trump playbook is tired. He’s already sowing the seed where he only accepts one election outcome…again.

Except the Mike Pence would be the president elect this time.

So is The Donald or Kamala going to be negotiating our JCBA for us? And I thought the SLI discussion was tense.

Anyone think we can get a real commuter clause like UAL?
