I'm not sure how exactly it protected them. It may have protected their seat and base or just their seat. Hopefully, someone that knows the actual definition can help you. Sorry that no one is chiming in about it with specific knowlege. Likely this merger will be different and the "red circle" tool may or may not be used during the SLI.

I would also add another voice for a lot of skepticism when it comes to OTZeagles posts. He's been about 20% on predictions around happenings at AS. He also seems to represent the worst of the worst at AS. He gloated over FO's getting furloughed during the pandemic. Which never happened.

Also, just like Jim Cramer. You'll make a pile of money investing in the opposite of OTZ's financial advice, specifically stock calls and puts lol.
Thank you. I appreciate it.
I thought it was a simple question, it was my intent anyway. It was, what does the term 'circle' refer to, and how is it being used, not a theory on mergers and a whole distertaion about the process from OTZ.

Thanks.
No worries really, I have no control over the process. I'm am onboard like most, a solid JCBA, solidarity, and comparable rates to the big three, snap up etc.

If rumor says the 321 HNL base closes, then base them all in SAN or LAS or on the coast.

I think you missed the point. The 321 will be gone completely...

Read between the lines…
It’s very close to an election, they really want to block this merger they just don’t know how to do it without effing them politically, especially after the JB/Spirit fiasco. Two airlines having to declare bankruptcy and furloughs will not support the current administrations claims of a robust economy and could definitely affect how people vote in November.
I truly believe this DOJ/ DOT are trying their hardest to scuttle the acquisition, they just don’t know how yet.

Ok ok, there is no point. I'm not being serious, just a bit of fun, no one knows, not even you. So it's no big deal.

SAN would absolutely like to develop more international routes, it's a big priority for the local governments which control the airport authority. Tourist/convention economy.

Yes they have still have arrival capacity and would prefer those slots go to bigger, not smaller planes.

I don't think the head shed is looking quite that far ahead. They'll settle for one-upping SWA with better international network access.

I believe DOJ agreed back in Mar to either oppose within the agreed-to time frame or forever hold their peace. Pretty sure that would have been in writing. In exchange AS did not consumate the acquisition within that period, and agreed to provide DOJ with info to assist their analysis.

DOJ may not be happy, but they can't renege on the deal now. I kind of suspect that DOJ got told to just let it go so as not make economic waves in the run up to the election.

If so, DOT will get the same marching orders. Or maybe DOT is going to try to stall until after the election. Although the DOT part should take days, not weeks or months, especially since they've known it was coming. If I were HQ I'd sue them if they stalled more than a week or two. They cannot just arbitrarily delay or deny... at least not with a fortune 500 company.

May be why HQ isn't popping the champagne corks just yet.
