Think of it this way, if the DOJ had solid ground to sue they would have done so already. They have shown us their cards and I believe the merger will likely go through. If they do opt to sue, the DOJ will surly not win in court.

That's not how I read it. It was basically a standard "we understand people have a lot on their minds right now, so please stay focused and professional".

Similar to the communiques you get with things like SLIs, big incidents, etc. Although in this case I don't think too many AS pilots are on the edge of their seats over this, that would be the other guys.

That could very well be. They're trying to extract concessions at this point so they can at least tell the progressives that they didn't let big bad business get away scot free.

This isn't quite like B6/NK, which would have eliminated a huge chunk of ULCC capacity to the detriment of the poors.

Also the election could place any such lawsuit in doubt.

Meanwhile after spirits announcement today, and JetBlues las week they are pivoting away from the ULCC model. Adding first class, bundling fares, meals, snacks, focusing on the premium passenger etc

HA stock up 12% today.

Wall street is fickle, but optimistic on today's news.

The question is, what is the pound of flesh that Alaska will have to give for this deal? My guess rhymes with FunWorld.

The JB/Spirit merger would have produced a single company with nearly 500 aircraft and eliminated ULCC seats.
HA/AS Is less than 300 aircraft including about 2 dozen widebodies. There is some overlap in the West Coast flying, but not much otherwise.

I guess, we should ask the question. If this merger of two companies without much overlap and fairly common culture doesn't work, then what merger does work? It seems that the DOJ wants DAL, UA and AAL to successed as all others can't get to that size without merging.

And in the vast majority of merger history and the pound of flesh is forgotten and incalculable with respect the gained benefit of the surviving party that exists to today. Alaska will benefit. Pilot Careers aside. Speaking to the business.

why would an alask pilot even want one world besides pass benefits?
