Yeah it is really weird how much outside of seniority pay opportunities there are.

Not really. Alaska is still the same mom and pop airline they were when I started more than 24 years ago. 90% of the airline is just out working crappy inefficient schedules getting paid hard time. A few percent in each base score some of the gravy but it is only there when the operation collapses. A couple percent of the seniority list and not necessarily the top couple percent live in the world of special deals and nothing but soft time…..They credit and “pay only” at the 150 to 200% level and make double what the rest of us make….Exactly the same way it was when I was new. If you want to work for Alaska and get paid like Delta then move to SEA with a good set of kneepads and dive in….

We all want different things homie, and I don’t need to be off for the SB. For this Short-backs are the way, and shockingly easy to move with P2P, and some creativity. In FEB my TAFB was 223hrs, blocked 66hrs and credited:120hrs. No Vacay, and “14 calendar days off” for our DL troll. 😉 Flew with a fella makin over $450k/yr doin em too, but he works A LOT harder than me. Not every month goes so well, but luck and creativity go along ways my friend, plus I get to say goodnight to my kiddo a lot more this way. Cheers!

How did I know you were going to say turn lines… agh yes the good old fashioned turn line during the low season with some company hiccups to up the credit here and there but hey you know that’s available to every single pilot and everyone at Alaska lives in base and only 30 mins from the airport. It’s no wonder people are tripping over themselves to come work for Alaska under the new contract because look here this braille guy has got it all figured out.

My first line is this month and it’s 17 off 220 TAFB 68 credit with 53 block. When I did my bid it took 5 mins all I asked for was weekends off, massaged a couple of the trips to better ones and that took about 15ish mins.

Do all pilots that leave Alaska get forced into immediate resignation when they give their notice?

Once you hit the 'send' button on your two week notice, there's no taking it back and you will be gone two weeks later.

Double check the contract and contact an ALPA rep because I may be mistaken here, but if you don’t give 4 weeks notice you will not get paid for any vacation you have accrued. Keep that in mind.

There are people at Alaska to ask about this stuff. Do not take info from this board as true or accurate.
