Which merger are you asking about? The United, American, Southwest or Hawaiian?

The 3 hour flex up sure feels a lot like a regional summer force feeding session around here. This BS ought to pay 200% but it don’t. Maybe if we had an override for excess hours, or our trips were less ****ty but they aren’t. Finally I’m lucky to get a few sweet step trades, 16 days off and 81hrs of pay… but it isn’t good enough bc I’ve only got 75:40 credit. Now NT says I’m he’s gonna spoon feed me another trip up to the max, thanks. What a joke.

I don’t like the flex up as much as the rest of us….but 3hrs more for the month sets you off that much? Vodka, whisky, or gin tonight??

Yes it does….Because it is never enough. And at 75:01. The crew planner will turn that into 82 or 85. Because they can. And are encouraged to. And as commuters that takes 2-4 more days and unpaid hotel rooms….For nothing. One more problem with the “Mandate Contract”

It's not your fault the operation isn't staffed properly. Just call out for whatever trip they add. You get paid and another FO gets premium. I agree it's not right but make it work for you.

Unpaid hotel rooms? See more false spewing on your part….the company is clearly & easily paying for commuter hotel, and if you’re not taking advantage of that it’s your fault…

To take the discussion a tad further… The Company and Union agreed to get our minimum pay to 70hrs. (from 75) so why are lines not built to 70hrs.?
That would give everyone max flexibility and you could actually have three four-day trips in a month (good for commuters) plus the flexibility to pick up something if you want.
We did it at VX and it was good for the Pilots and good for the company because there will always be Pilots who want to go higher in Credit, which is great.
It also boosts morale and we never had a problem staffing our trips, at least I don’t remember or heard.

Did Alaska drop the paid hotels for commuters? Is there also not a day trip that puts you above guarantee? Can’t you also “borrow a trip” from another pilot and then drop one of your trips and give the trip back to the other pilot, effectively putting you way below guarantee?

No.

The credit card thing is for company-paid commuter hotels either before or after your trip (for early shows or late finishes respectively). The company doesn't know which pilots will want those, so you have to book your own on a company portal (takes 60 seconds). And not unreasonably, they expect you to cancel the booking if you decide not to use it (takes 20 seconds).
