It’s an anonymous forum, for pilots no less, I treat most information with a giant grain of salt unless corroborated. I’m certainly not arguing against your second point.

As far as lead times for interviews goes C340 it’s anyone’s guess. A friend had a meeting with a CP and got the phone call to schedule an interview about a week later. Unfortunately he had training scheduled so he hasn’t been able to interview yet.

I have a possible opportunity to go travel abroad with my brother for 9 days at the beginning of March. However, I want to give priority to an interview here, if I get one. Assuming Alaska wants to interview me, does anyone know the likelihood of interviews for someone in my position taking place within the first 10 days of March? I imagine they choose to interview in batches. When they call to schedule an interview, do they give a number of dates to choose from, and if you can't make those dates, you lose the opportunity or are pushed until the next interview cycle? Does anyone know if the currently scheduled interviews are occurring before early March? Am I being too optimistic thinking that I could be interviewing as early as the first week or two of March?

Just trying to find the balance between continuing to live life/taking opportunities when they come vs putting my life on hold and prioritizing getting hired ASAP over everything else for seniority's sake. Thanks for any and all input.
Some people wait a week for a call, others for months, I wouldn’t be changing my life plans around on the chance to interview at Alaska Airlines.

Dude that sounds like a once in a lifetime opportunity. Personally I’d go, and if Alaska does call for an interview and you can’t select a day around it, just be honest and tell them. Nobody will fault you. and I guarantee they will give you some interview dates around your trip. It’s not like you’re leaving for 9 months, it’s just 9 days…

Yeah, I'm sure they'd let you take a later interview if you have a significant family commitment (you don't need to share the details with them).

I agree with the others.. absolutely take the trip, and if called for an interview just let them know that you have an international trip planned over those days. Normally I would say it’s none of their business, and to just say that you have a prior obligation, however in this environment they make take that to mean that you have a different interview scheduled for those days.

Our candidate pool is not huge, and you meet all of the criteria, which means Alaska wants you. Take the trip, and schedule the interview either before or after the trip. Good luck!

Take the trip brother. If at the end of the trip you still want to interview at Alaska then it will happen. Just let them know that April is your soonest availability. Attrition is still high enough that you will get called

Again, can anyone clarify?

Any failures or things you failed to disclose?
A brief review of hours and history, if I recall.

Basically, be personable and someone they enjoy talking to. It’s a low threat event unless you come across as a d-bag.
