Now it's 2022, and the pilot shortage is finally here. For real. We're not even at its zenith yet.
And we can't even take full advantage of it because everyone's got economic PTSD.

At Delta, there are categories that junior guys can’t get reserve even if they wanted it because it goes senior.

Actually with current company contracts it is 22 days to get the month off without bidding. Which means it is limited to pilots with 9+ years of seniority...IMO that is the only way to avoid losing vacation days as a reserve pilot with the current rules.

Wow the disinformation here is astonishing sometimes, completely false. United has airport standby. This reserve system is a huge upgrade.

Hands down, the dumbest thing I have read on APC ever. These guys put everything they had into this TA… These are not OK guys, they are as good of people is you could find in any industry, we didn’t deserve everything they did for all of us…. Have you ever heard of gratitude…. Nope the angry 30 only know hate and bitterness, they are too dumb to realize they are the minority, they will quickly buy bag tags that say, “I voted NO”… 🙄🤭😂

Friday is was disappointed at first glance. Thought there was no way I could vote yes. Three days later, multiple times going through the executive summary, comprehensive proposal, term sheet, and contract comparison. Writing out about 100 different questions and different scenarios with the proposed language. I spent a good portion of the day on the phone with just about every rep you can think of. I can honestly say I’m still undecided, but leaning towards yes. There things I don’t agree with as far as how the union decided to move on from certain improvements. There are things I really like. There are things I flat out didn’t know or understand in the TA that will be huge QOL improvements. There are provisions that will pay us a lot if they mess with us BBH and reserve alike. One example from things scheduling has pulled under the current contract. Currently LCR can be converted and have been converted for the whole month just to sit in the crashpad and not get used. Now that pays 109 hours. 79 guarantee, conversion 1-6 6hours, conversion 7-18 24 hours. Also another concern was implementation, since 3rd step has been so fast. If they miss the deadline of March 1 2023 of ADG pay and credit implementation, ADG goes up 5 minutes every month it’s not implemented. If it’s anything like 3rd step we may be not have to do one day of work a month. They are other penalties, for other implementation items. I was also leery of somebody trying to sell this contract to me. It’s happened in the past, not one person told me how great anything was, just simply answered my questions.

You know what the rub is? There are guys on here from other airlines, clueless about what we even negotiated, taking shots at our MEC, NC, and pilot group… talk about balls and ignorance, I can’t imagine telling someone at another airline how to vote on his or her contract, especially knowing what they actually know… very little. Embarrassing dudes, absolutely embarrassing!

Fair enough. The NC and MEC really drug us up from the depths and got us 90% of the way there. They should be congratulated. Anyone personally attacking our NC is way over the line.
The question everyone should be asking is that last 10% worth the effort? As of right now, my answer is YES. Which means NO. Wait. I'm confused.

And you're willing to kick it down the road another 6 months - 1 yr and risk current book to get that other 10%? What if you don't get the full remaining 10%. What if you get another 2% (say 92% of what you wanted)? What about another 5% (95% of what you wanted)?
Where's your line? I'm surprised that 90% doesn't meet your threshold. By any grading metric, a 90% is an A
Then you enjoy this TA. And you enjoy solid scope protections, PBS with complete pilot control, solid vacation protections via fake day and credit pumps, your pay and retirement snap ups once the big 4 + Jetblue get their new rates.
