How much longer you want to wait? Until after the next recession is over?

Big CBA negotiations are not going especially great, you can read about it on their forums, or talk to friends there if you have any.
I also think that pax airlines will fair better than average even in a downturn... I think people will appreciate the freedom to travel, since .gov has so kindly given us all a hall pass for a while.

Was just discussing current events. I'm not pessimistic, just have doubts that waiting for somebody else is the best plan... if you wait long enough, something bad is likely to happen. So far I've seen tech bubble, 9/11, 2008, covid, and war in Europe.

I agree the indicators are a mixed bag right now, as to whether there's going to be a serious-ish downturn, or just mush along for a year or two.

Alaska has the most ground to gain in this race, and it will be less than optimal for them to start first.
We'll see soon enough if we achieve parity+, but we are running a risk of being left behind by faster runners by going first.
Also, the pilot shortage is recession proof.
