Notice how the Eagle drops into the thread the day United gets a deal. Pilot retention is a game of inches. It costs nothing to post on APC. If these 787 rumors influence a only handful pilots to stay at Alaska, it's still totally worth it for management.
Idk. I hope OTZ is right on this one. I need some hope. Ever since Ben took over, there's been a lack of vision, at least a lack of vision that's been communicated to the employees. Maybe he's paddling really hard under the surface? It's depressing to see delta hogging all the international traffic from the PNW. Alaska has much more feed in both Seattle and Portland. A

From Wiki:
Boeing 787-9
In February 2018, Hawaiian was rumored to be canceling its order for six A330-800s and replacing them with 787-9s.[102] It was reported that Boeing priced the aircraft at less than $115 million, and possibly less than $100 million, each; the production cost of a 787-9 is between $80 million and $90 million. Boeing Capital also released Hawaiian from three 767-300ER leases in advance; these aircraft were to be transferred to United Airlines. Initially, Hawaiian refuted it cancelled its A330-800 order, but did not dismiss a new deal with Boeing.[103] However, on March 6, 2018, Hawaiian Airlines confirmed the cancellation of the A330-800 order and the signing of a Letter of Intent with Boeing to purchase ten 787-9 aircraft, with options for an additional ten planes;[104] the deal was finalized at the Farnborough Air Show in July 2018.[105] Hawaiian announced on January 4, 2023 that two additional 787-9 aircraft would be added to its order (for a total of 12 787-9 aircraft on order) as part of a deal with Boeing to defer deliveries to the fourth quarter of 2023.[53]
So were are going to get 12 787-9s? Or 20? Are they going to all be based at SEA? Where is the closest simulator for the 787 to SEA? Will the 78 sims eventually be based in Seattle or elsewhere? We do not have published pay rates for the 787. What will the pay rates be?
Also will we snap up in '24? Americans AIP must be in turmoil now that the UAL AIP has been published. UAL won't have the deal finished by 9/1. American possibly. SWA, no.

but I do enjoy how some here really hope we don’t get a pay raise. Really strange.

That's not what the language says. Once they go off the map, whose guess on how generous the company will be. And that sort of thing until it happens, sounds like wishful thinking.

You are correct that the MEC has stated that they will be advocating for that to happen, but that certainly doesn’t mean the company is obligated to do so. Hopefully the MEC succeeds and we see a better increase in September than what it looks like we’ll get at this point contractually.

I would rather pilots know what Retro is. We still have a few that think Delta got full Retro In their contract. Not even close. Nor did American or United in their AIP.
for those that don’t know, full Retro is new pay rates retroactive back to the amendable date. Hence the name Retro.
.
that is NOT full Retro.
