Clearly you read things once. You can run for re-election. All members indicated they wouldn’t. Even though “there’s still work to be done.” Did you not know they did limited road shows and rushed the vote in order to make an “ALPA” meeting? Must’ve missed that note. But since they’re “5x” our size, clearly they should get more of everything. Worked out for the company. Why let another major put out a TA during our vote? Now we know why. An extra roadshow or two would’ve helped. The attendance was poor, and you can tell by the questions I get asked by First Officers on the line. You got sold on average, which is totally fine for you. Just realize your peers are getting about an extra $80k initially, and more days off each year with an overhauled contract, because they knew their worth. Especially, (again) during times like these. Why do you think new hires and people with seniority are leaving here? Truly answer that beyond bases and heavy’s. With AA having a deal, the attrition problem is only going to get worse. UA and WN getting a deal will only add to this. Let’s see how the company responds. Or if they respond.
Here, I haven’t been used on reserve days. So I picked up a 2-day, a 1-day, and a 2-day on regular days off. Pay went from 79 hrs guarantee to 106.5 hrs. At Delta or United, I’d have to put in for a premium pickup and would not get it because people senior to me would be awarded those trips.
Speaking of premium. Tons of CA premium at Delta and United. Last glance at Alaska system wide CAs: ZERO premium. Alaska CAs are staffed properly. Dare I say, overstaffed in some bases. Forget premium here, that will only happen once in a while now that CA staffing is good. FO is a separate story, they are short. But recently it seems they are carving up and more FOs I fly with are saying they are having some luck in 3rd step and regular
Bottom line, there’s ways to make money here. Some things other airlines don’t have. And yes, we lack some things they have. It’s not perfect by any means. But it’s still a decent 3 yr contract with early opener potential late next year.

Referring to how we’re going to be average compared to other carrier rates. I disagree that the NC did a great job OTZ. They did an “average” job. Hence why they’re all stepping down now. They had every opportunity to renegotiate a completely new and overhauled contract, and just hit the top few. That’s not how this works. Especially in times such as these. Take a look at the underlined and changed things in the “new” contract, it’s minuscule. Our contract was a rush job (literally rushed the voting) and it’s showing. The other carriers will be making more over the time we’ve signed this in due to the massively higher retro pay checks in which they’re receiving, and industry leading pay rates with a real snap-up clause. While we get rewarded for going first with average. 🤣
I don’t see any logical reason to cry about making more money. Despite how one feels about Air Group. What a cynical take on a very good but highly unlikely thing.
As for staffing there is yet another thread on our forum about trades being denied for staffing. I don’t think downgrades are going to help this dynamic…

I live in base. On reserve days when I’m not used, it didn’t feel like a work day. My phone never rang. I won’t call that an official day off. But I didn’t work that day either. Did all the usual stuff taking kids to school, pickup, drop off, etc
Look, go to Delta. You’re gonna be disappointed when you see that life isn’t that much better. A newhire buddy of mine got ATL 737 FO. Guess what his ALV (avg line value) was? He’s ****ed, he said he’d rather be back at Endeavor where he flowed from.

Excluding my May reserve experiment, the rest has been has a blockholder where I have worked no more than 16 days of flying (and some months 14 days of flying) and every month has been 100+ hrs credit. My QOL is good with ~15 days off for that much pay. Mostly day trips and 2-day trips so I am home a lot.

What you would really like to see is my line… you wouldn’t believe what you could do around here if you had half a brain. I did 170 in APR with 16 off😱 I can do 120 and 17 to 18 with ease any given month!
