Mid 30’s just under 5 years on property and had junior to me folks awarded upgrade the day after I put in my notice but why would I leave when I coulda retired in the top 30…. Hmmm strange couldn’t have been the contract that the 80% apparently wanted.

If you bring up specifics of why you left the response will be: "Good riddance! Thank god you left you malcontent!"

If you bring up specifics of what needs to change in a constructive manner and you work at AS: "If you don't like it leave!"

Good old APC...

Nah. Pretty much my guess what I wrote earlier: under 40 and sub 5 yrs. That’s the bulk of our attrition. You have 30 yrs left, and only 5 yrs seniority to give up.

Crickets. He only spoke about these when we were in negotiations. Post contract, this guy has nothing to offer, per usual.

no place is perfect but we all know their reserve rules will drastically improve in the next contract cycle. Their reserve is the worst in the industry and we still are losing folks to them each and every month. If that doesn’t speak volumes idk what to tell you.

The reasons for the attrition has already been mentioned. United could offer dogcrap reserve rules and give 8 days/month off and there still be a line of pilots going to United above and beyond Alaska.

More retirements
Quicker movement up the seniority list
Widebodies
More/better bases

In THIS hiring environment, who in their right mind would agree to 30-35+ yrs of single fleet flying stuck on the west coast only, with very low movement up the seniority list?

which is exactly what I stated in my original post. Alaska is far from hell on earth however you’re more the likely gonna have a better career elsewhere in the current environment. Money this money that at the end of the day you’re making great money in the left seat here or at the big 3. The glaring issues is scheduling and QOL here atm. Something I’m hoping we push for during the next cycle. Me personally I’d never leave for UAL. I’m not drawn to flying the long haul stuff. I like the medium stuff with some short stuff sprinkled in. However seeing the schedules of friends at DAL in SEA and SLC for the junior line holders does make me quite envious. That doesn’t mean I feel the need to act like the world is crashing down around me.

No. They are on lease until 2029 at the latest. They are being parked in the used airplane storage lot with For Sale signs in the window….

You act like 321 Neo’s are garbage & not in demand….doom & gloom as usual.

They are buying out the leases, and then reselling them. Something that is smart, and only a company with deep pockets could do…They’ll go quick, and for a premium.
