Been at AS 20+ years… hasn’t been perfect but looking back it’s been a really good ride. I have an unbelievable schedule, fly great trips when I want, get any day I want off. I have friends at pretty much every carrier, you could argue pennies, I don’t think any of them have a better quality of life… any! I guess that’s just my koolaid drinking perspective though, knocking down 500k+ a year doesn’t hurt either.

No arguing the ride you have had and the fortune that has come your way. You fall in to a very small group at this airline. The “one percenters” as they have always been called by those of us that have been “out based” all these years. All you and the rest of the club there at headquarters needed out of this last run at a contract was tweaking….And you got it. That is all. Suffice to say that the ever growing population of non PNW pilots at Alaska needed a whole lot more. And we didnt. That is all. Quality of life. Fear Factor ruled the day. Common theme. It is all that got the passing vote.

I’m very surprised you’re not in management by now. Ironic how I fly with guys who voted yes, and 99% of them don’t understand the verbiage of the contract. The NC did a great job selling this mediocre contract. Look through it and see how much has changed from the previous contract. It’s minuscule. This company has always had a fear mongering tactic when it comes to anything. The rushed vote and last minute contract proposal was no different.

The negotiation team was refreshed with new term/members. If you feel so strongly about it, did you step up to the plate?

No, we don't, because we're entitled to vocally share our opinions just like you. In fact quite the opposite - it's imperative that the people who think we didn't get enough in this contract NOT "get over it," as you so condescendingly put it, because those people are going to be the ones fighting the hardest for the next contract and fighting the apathy that is so endemic to this pilot group.
