Would you prefer management was still stonewalling us in negotiations like many other carriers? We're now among the top paid narrowbody pilots. Have industry leading scope. Have received profit sharing that has beat every airline for 3 years running. Have (admittedly mediocre) but never before had snap up clause that keeps us competitive. Amazing vacation rules that are coming down the pipeline. Retained industry top LTD protections. And to top it all off Alaska has probably the best balance sheet of any airline to weather an economic downturn.
I believe we offer the best narrowbody package for someone who isn't interested in wide body flying and lives anywhere west of Denver. Just my opinion.

If not for the wall of text it almost reads as satire. I'm also curious which four to five previous airlines were "WAY" better. And in what way? I'd like to hear specifics.

Their scheduling flexibility is already better than ours with an old contract. Can’t wait to see what they get with the new. This last pandemic just showed that the “best balance sheet” didn’t do too much. It’s size.

This is extremely interesting. You’d choose Alaska over Southwest and their eleven bases? Bases are like aircraft, lets you be senior in other places. Kinda hard to see that beyond Seattle I know. 🤣 Wait till you see what contract they get. Industry standard isn’t what they aim for. It’ll put Alaska’s to shame. Wonder why so many west coast pilots are going to Southwest over Alaska? They must not know of this amazing new contact we got (joking).

They have some great stuff. I have decent flexibility and its about to get even better. Oh and I can count on a day off, being a day off, which is worth probably more than whatever hourly rate they best us at some hypothetical date. But surprise! Whatever rate they get will be added to our snap up.
Where'd you hear new hires choosing them over us? I've heard the opposite. All anecdotal stories. Just a matter of opinion! Alaska is a great place to work currently. I know it's cool to hate on your employer and show up to work angry in this day and age. Try coming happy and grateful you can sit and pick your nose for 300 bucks an hour you probably will be easier to sit next to in the flight deck.

QOL (quality of life for the noob) was way better at 4 of the 5 and similar at the 5th. I did not leave any of them voluntarily. They ceased to exist or downsized to the point I was furloughed. The last one was bought by Alaska. My first airline job was in 1987 so I’ve seen some things and believe I have a good idea of what’s what.
