Alaska General Discussion

Alaska can’t even properly staff the current fleet, let alone a full Boeing fleet by the end of the year, and you want them to get a fleet of widebodies to compete on international markets? To compete with Delta out of Seattle? Let me know when a pilot takes the helm at CEO, so I can short ALK stock to bankruptcy.

Simple enough really. Alaska Airlines does not want to be a great airline or even a good airline. They want to be a great return on invested credit. They dont want to be a great career airline or a major player or to grow their footprint. Those things have little to nothing to do with great ROIC. They are likely the best in the ROIC airline game…. Over the long stretch. Makes the realization that you work for a boutique investment firm that happens to have airplanes a little bitter. PNW ers seem to swallow that pill better than most. If you happen to be invited into the club then you will definitely experience a pseudo-airline career with decent career potential. If you are looking for the niceties and consistencies of an airline being run as an airline you might not find what you are looking for.

FTR…. I’m happy here! I’m just saying I think running much more of an airline than we currently, they’d be beyond their depth. Turns out, two things can be true at the same time. You can both be happy, AND, still make a critical statement.

Personally, I'm not a fan of how my labor was undervalued to create such a profit margin. It's clear where you stand on this issue so there isn't much point in discussing specifics.

No. That isn't what I was referring to at all. I was trying to be subtle. I see that isn't working.

It's really unfortunate you feel so mistreated and undervalued by Alaska. Never before in the history of aviation have there been more opportunities to leave. It's not worth being unhappy! Perhaps the grass is greener at another carrier? I definitely don't think that it is but clearly you have a different view.
