Really this is embarrassing, AAL could very well shrink, they are not hiring but retiring. If they wanted to continue growing they would hire even during slow times, which would alleviate the significant pressure periods of substantial retirements produce. One can logically conclude AAL is actually deciding to retract instead of grow during this period. They obviously see something that causes pause. Neither you or I know if hiring will pick up latter in the year, that is to be determined. You realize airlines don’t always grow right?
Uhm wow, very profound…at some point airlines will hire again… really. Yes, and at some point airlines will likely furlough again. I mean this is very deep thought. Let’s give this a minute and let it all sink in…😉😱😂

AAL stopping hiring means NOTHING yet. UAL stopped then started again. AAL is going though a major leadership shakeup so unless they plan a major pivot that they haven't announced yet, the expectation is to resume hiring. This is how logic works, you should try using it at some point.

I’m not trying to be rude but do not understand the correlation. So, of that 1,200 at Delta, how many have already been hired? So, UAL opened the application window, that means they could hire 2,500 or Zero right? Are they both going through a merger? Have they both just introduced PBS, why does that mean, we will or will not do anything?

SCR is now gonna pay 84 hrs?
With PBS, an 84 hr line means about 15-16 days of work? Guaranteed to be away and work 15-16 days, or potential on short call for 18 days for the same pay and probably fly less. Is it me, or is SCR about to go super senior?

It depends on your base. Currently CA and FO are SCR getting used close to every day in SEA. The reserve rules are not changing and they are still not very good. I'd think picking up even a straight time trip once a month as a line holder would be much better than working 17-18 days a month with a 5 hr pay bump.

Not more senior, but incentivize more folks to bid SCR in the SRB, bc all reserves start as a LCR now. Seems like a silly work around to the companies lack of understanding on how to convert the appropriate amount of folks. Or meet some abitrary metric of RSV utilization. (I think.)

In terms of schedule flexibility including pick up? SWA easily. A quick glance and the reserve report shows many on PLC with well over 60hrs for the month and a few over 70. In my base. I've already mentioned it but not everyone can live in the base of golden children. It's cool you guys aren't getting called out on reserve and getting extra pay for an unused conversion while SEA reserves cover your bases trips. I can't see that lasting forever but with the way things have been going at scheduling maybe they could. Who knows.

That wasn't the question. The rules matter more than the pay. For reserves. 84 hours will just mean that it will take longer for reserves to get pushed over guarantee. That was the norm before the wheels fell off at Boeing.

American isn't shrinking lol. Their retirements alone are going to dictate picking up hiring before the end of the year big time.
Everyone hired for attrition, and attrition stopped so everyone is temporarily fat. That combined with Boeing deliveries is creating a freeze. Yea it sucks but we will get through it. The shortage is over, it was fixed, and the massive hiring flood isn't going to happen like it did post COVID anytime soon. That being said, hiring will resume at some point for everyone.
