What are the current upgrade times at Alaska per base? When can someone hired today expect upgrade?

We're not trying to add a crew base in the PO. There already is one crew base in the PO.

My point about Delta was that this hotel program was a fluke in history. It was great, too good to be true, and I don't think anyone envisioned this would be a permanent fixture. Hiring is coming to a standstill, attrition is fairly low, and the costs for this are very high - our pilot bases are in some of the highest COL cities in the country. It's not a surprise they are cutting it, what is surprising is they took this long to do so. Delta ditched it a while ago.
Whew…. Glad you’re not on the negotiating committee Shy. We should probably go ahead and prepare ourselves for concessions.

I fondly recall you gloating all over the internet about how great this program was and how it made sense for the company to keep it into perpetuity. The rest of knew better. Nice try though!

I'm not on the NC. But lets recap what you lost so far.

1. Hotel MOU, gone. You and I had no say.

2. RSV pickup on days off, gone for IL months. Minimizing potential for extra income on the junior side, so super senior pilots can stay home and collect 40/hrs. Apparently, the story goes they wanted to kill the Reserve pickup days off MOU altogether. An agreement was made to kill it only for months of ILs, but keep it around for other months when staffing gets tough and there are no ILs offered (eg, summer).

Me, personally? I'd say draw a line in the sand and stand by it. If that means they kill the Rsv P/U MOU, then let them. They'll also have to live with the consequences come summer/staffing shortage.

All these MOU/LOAs need to be enshrined into the CBA main body itself, so next time it can't just be terminated with a 30-60 day notice.

That's fact, jack.

You must have mistaken me for someone else. As a local guy, it's best I keep my opinion on the hotel MOU to myself.

No one can answer this. Our careers are dynamic as is the economy.
Right now upgrade is:
LAX 8 ANC 7 PDX 7 SEA 6 SFO 6

Right now 2024 looks slow, 2025 looks slow… best guess 2026 will have significant movement.

For everyone right now at AS that is not currently a captain, it sure looks like 8 years to upgrade, by 2027, I would guess upgrade will be in the neighborhood of 6.5 years again. For anyone hired this spring, I would guess two years of RSV and a 6.5 year upgrade. Grade it all in 2030

Think 5 year upgrade into the junior base and if it happens sooner consider yourself lucky

We did this to ourselves, a few ruining it for the many.
There is something to this. Some of the abuse was eye-watering, essentially fraud or intentional sabotage. Or both.

I don't think too many folks had illusions about the longevity of the MOU, most of us were like enjoy it while it lasts.

Also it was actually a bit polarizing. Old school pilots who can hear SEATAC arrivals and departures from their front porch were pizzed off by the MOU... apparently it was a negotiated benefit which didn't do anything for *them*. Even heard one dude even complaining about the impact on his annual performance award
