I'd suggest you ask your rep that exact question and let them know exactly how you feel about it. Your block rep is on the bottom of the email that was just sent out this evening to your personal mail account from ALPA.

Is someone complaining about lack of flexibility? It would seem every base/seat is well staffed and there is very little opentime. You can drop just about anything. Or… is this about pilots complaining reserves take open time and there is no quality trips to trade from? Whatever happened to first come, first serve? Now, a solid 30-35% of pilots will be limited to 75-79 hrs on reserve with no opportunity to make more.

I thought the “old guard” was changing. This is just another example of the union screwing the junior pilots, for a gain on the senior side. Let’s face it, these EILs will go senior.
My 2 cents.

the guys leaving the most are the junior pilots, yet the union finds a way to benefit the senior guys at the expense of junior guys.

Don’t get me wrong, this is where I always wanted to be and I don’t want to go anywhere else but it’s frustrating.

If you want to stop attrition, improve the QOL for year 1-5 guys too.

Based on the ALPA email with the latest meeting minutes, this LOA was voted on and approved during the meeting.

It's still vital that the MEC gets feedback from everyone on this LOA, including junior pilots.

Fact is, the junior guys got more in this latest contract then the senior guys, which was ok to catch them up, but a contract should ALWAYS favor the more snior since you will be there one day and you will also appreciate the gains… being junior is fleeting (unless you bounce from airline to airline) but the majority will be spent in the upper echelon (depending on your age of course). So, bottom line is that I believe, not enough is being done for the senior guys and girls, period! Think about it logically 😉

yeah, tell that to the plug at American that was number last for a decade 🙄 Why are pilots so short-sighted?

Everything at this place is set up for the senior side. First step, second step trading. Vacation accrual stagnation on the junior side. I could go on but what’s the point.

I assume by the face it was just a post said in jest above.

The system for pilots in US airlines, not just Alaska, is based on seniority, not egalitarianism.

If you stick it out, eventually you do get to drink from the trough with all the good stuff in it.

I guess you could try to change it, but good luck with that...

Well…
I see a recession starting early to late spring. I expect a mild to medium downturn, that lasts 12-14 mos. I think IL’s and 75 max will keep everyone on property. My guess is AS will even make a little money over this period.

The current administration is doing everything it can to push this past the election, but I am confident summer of 2024 everyone will realize we are in a downturn.

I think spring hiring will be the last for 18 mos. I think upgrades are done for the same period. I expect the HA merger to be successful.

I sold everything I had in the market over the last few days, including all my BTC. I know you can’t time the market but here is me giving it a try.🤞

I’m sure I am wrong, I’m a clock after all. Best of luck. Recessions are a normal healthy part of the economic cycle.

I guess we will see how this post ages, I honestly hope I’m wrong.
