you don’t get it bud. Our company culture and superior product are the reason we will be able to retain pilots.
We would be at 5000 on the seniority list if captains would just stop telling people to leave.

Right OTZ?

@ Seatac Alaska 55, Delta 24, and UAL 4…. 😂🙄🙄
To be clear, as I said in my original post, I wasn’t making ANY kind of prediction. I just found it intriguing that United would be opening a pilot base in SEA. That is all.

Don’t forget this amazing “new fleet” Alaska has. Maybe throw in how awesome that credit card is as well.

OTZ mixed up his numbers a few weeks ago. He said a 787 announcement by September. I think he meant we’ll soon be doing a 8 hour flight on a 737. Happens to the best of us. 🤣 His insider info is diminishing like Alaska’s growth (too soon?).

If we had 5,000 pilots we would be furloughing. We need about 3400 active to handle summer 2024.

would* fixed it for you. Little early for happy hour OTZ. I don’t care to go back and look up all the things you’ve been wrong on, but someone will. 787’s 🤣 Still makes me laugh.

No we wouldn’t be, 5k is the number we need to be at to staff the 78s and our growth. How do you not know that?

How do you grow an airline in a base with no capacity for growth due to gate constraints?

Does SK just come in and tell the port “Hello I’m very smart and Alaska is too dumb to grow so I’d like 10 of their gates to steal pilots from Alaska,” and the port responds with, “wow you are very smart you can have all the C gates?@

I agree with you, but when has this ever not been the case for Alaska. They are always backed into their PNW corner. The thing is, it’s basically the pilots that want growth because it’s good for our careers. Management and the board wants what’s good for their investors and their bottom line and that has always meant little more than being an extremely PNW centric airline.
