2/3rds of my trips were shaded red for February and I didn’t get any trades.

Yeah man. One of the main reasons I came here was flexibility. Turns out, when you can’t adequately staff your airline, flexibility becomes non existent.

I wouldn’t be surprised given the way they manage snow every year, and Omicron (shocked….. SHOCKED apparently that either would have a significant impact on operations) if we got to the point where with rare exception they just denied trades based on lack or reserves. And it won’t be their fault…. That people don’t show or leave class or leave the company, and they don’t have enough reserves….. (Down to 2 reserves for the entire month of January in SFO!!!😳 WTAF??) it’ll just be “ya know we’re doing all we can do, but y’all just keep on treading out the grain… and also don’t be sick…. But be safe…. But also… don’t be sick…. But do the right thing… but, don’t be sick…. But safety first.” The double speak here is NEXT level.

At least we got a plane painted with whales on it. Some utter bs about saving water….More good old “expectation by distraction “ from the leader in “wag the dog” leadership…

In step trading, there ought to be an option which at the end says, "now repeat all these trade options from last to first."

I got screwed since I put all my options in chronological order, top to bottom for trades (as in from the 1st through the 31st). Example is trying to swap into a 3 day trip on let's say 13-14-15th. It gives an error because on the 24th, it would hit 100:20 and that's illegal. Okay, understood.

Then my next chronological order trade is the 3 day on 23-24-25 for another one the same days. That goes through. This time, the block time on the 24th is reduced from the original 5:36 that day to the new 3 hr block for that day. Then my step trading is finished.

But there was no way for the system to "look back up" and realize that the swap for the 13-14-15 is now legal because the new swap on the 25th created a lower block time that day, which should allow the swap on the 13-14-15 to go through.

It doesn't do that.

So how do you guys fix this? The only option I can think of is put all your step trade options from top to bottom (1st through 31st) in chronological order, AND then re-input them from last-to-first (31st to 1st) trading options. If I had done this, then after the trip was changed on the 23-24-25, the next step trade would have then been, again, that trip on the 13-14-15 and it would have awarded it now because it is legal due to a later (previous) step trade.

Of course the trip I wanted was still available and ended up being put into an OF line. What else would have solved this problem? 3rd step. Don't get me started.

Can’t believe there is not a computerized bidding system that could take all your preferences and automate this mess.

Strange thing about those handy computerized bidding systems. They only function within a framework of rules. Since we have no framework of rules we cant utilize one of those systems. Maybe someday

What a coincidence! We're negotiating the rulebook right now.
