Speaking of sobering, everyone should check out the 2021 W2 comparison thread. Nothing like blocking more and yet crediting significantly less than pilots everywhere else. Nothing like being on year 5 pay at Alaska and earning the same as a Jbu guy on 3rd year pay, $30k less than an American guy on third year pay, $70k less than the SWA guys at 4th year pay, etc, and yet also working more than all of them.
👆🏼👆🏼👆🏼👆🏼 what HE said. Go look, compare, and know the company is stalling as long as possible just to get to some measure of PARITY! By almost every metric but one, I have zero idea why anyone would go with Alaska.

Years ago, there was an effort to seek parity across the industry in wages by equipment. What they discovered in doing so was that by seeking parity, no one was raising the bar and stagnation resulted.
Does anyone remember in the last round of contract negotiations when American went first and raised wages before the other big carriers? Later, they were passed by Delta and United and the pilots asked to re-open negotiations. Parker told them no, that they were the first to get a deal and as such raised the bar for everyone else and that they would do so again the next time around. Even Parker, Mr. East vs. West, gets it, that in negotiations you raise the bar: yet, you guys at Alaska are seeking only parity.
So, just to reiterate, Parker, Mr East VS West, the Lorenzo of our generation, says you raise the bar in negotiations and your Benito says you guys deserve nothing better than 6th. And they say American is toxic.
When you negotiate and ask for reasonable, you settle for less than reasonable. No wonder you guys are bringing up the rear.

Vacation Usage at AK
I'm guessing this has been answered. I tried the search function and could only find snippets of the answer. Can someone speak to vacation time use at AK? How many days per year and how/when can you expect to use it? Thanks

Without getting into the weeds of our vacation process, here are the basics:
value = 3.5 hr per day
1-4 yos = 15 days, 5-8 = 21, 9-12 = 24, 13-19 = 30, 20-24 = 35, 25-30 = 40 and > 31= 41.
we bid for vacay days in four, 2 week blocks starting in Sept. All seniority order. We can trade day for day with either open time or pilot to pilot. A vacation day will drop a trip but the company requires you to have the monthly min credit of 75, or higher on flex up months (76-78). So if you don't have enough credit from you vacay days after the drop, you end up having to pick up flying to meet the monthly min. There's more to it but those are the basics.

Wow you’re really gonna gloss right over the vacation trading changing and open time just going away without so much as a whimper? It’s dramatically different the past two years.

he didn't ask how our Union handles unilateral moves made by the company. He asked for an overview of how our vacation works. I specifically said there's a lot more to it and I'm only providing basics. Maybe you missed that.
