Guys, I am reading tea leaves, some would say smoking them. Some stuff has come up lately that to me suggest we are definitely looking at HAL, most likely well past window shopping. Reasonable time line is probably April to June. That is just a guess though. I think there is something going on there but who knows.
I am going to be on a long break from APC, good luck to all the new hires, don’t let the few on here discourage you. We are all in this together, I think by mid summer we will have a deal. It will get worse before it gets better, but that always seems to be true.
Hope everyone has a great holiday!

AS was literally the last airline anyone saw as a buyer for VX. HA is not doing too splendid financially, they are venerable and they are getting crushed in Hawaii (as are we) by SWA. AS buying HA is way less crazy as when they bought VX.

It wasn't engineered to be sold too much as it was prime to be sold.

So AS is gonna buy HA to continue getting crushed by SWA?
It sounds just stupid enough but also could pass the smell test if it kicked our contract can down the road another 3-5 years.

This x 1000. It doesn’t make sense, no real merger plan, end up getting rid of most of the route structure and market share. Makes me think it will happen. Get ready for JCBA instead of CBA, 717s gone, 321s gone, 330s gone, and 787s gone, close all Hawaii bases and make legacy Hawaiian pilots commute to the west coast. Tell them Alaska expects them to live in base. Sound familiar? I don’t have OTZ’s money, property, boats or expensive whiskeys. So I’ll relax in my blowup pool, with a Schlitz, avoiding upgrade, enjoying my 16 days off as a senior FO and enjoying my family forgetting I work Alaskian

When you’re senior enough you can pump and dump or give away your trips and find a better job doing something else. Seems like the only bright spot around here.
Or as I’ve said many times: “there’s a reason 750 pilots are bypassing upgrade.”

Yes. Startups get preferential allocation of gates and slots in the interest of encouraging "competition", so the system is rigged such that startups are incentivized as a sort of land grab. After you stake your claim, you can sell it to the established carriers.
No it won't be.
