The upgrade time being what it is is a reflection of the QOL here as a junior captain, nothing more.

Maybe. But industry wide, upgrade times have dropped to historical lows. United actually had unfilled narrowbody Captain vacancies in their latest vacancy bid award.

I'm gonna push back on that a bit... "SEA had 170 lines with the Christmas off"

What if you wanted both the 24th and 25th off? 106 lines.

Do you commute and want the 26th off as well? 50 lines.

Want the 23rd-25th off instead? 42 lines.

Want to swing for the fences and go for the 23rd-26th off? Only 16 lines.

And that's before removing lines that are un-commutable.

I say this because I feel touting "170 lines have Christmas off" is just putting lipstick on a pig. Especially when you look at it in the shoes of a commuter.

Great story Ace! I heard it was 30 years😂😂😂.. Are you kidding me, I don’t have 25 years in but I have 24,25,31 all off 🤔. Maybe he got unstacked.

So the story is the dude has 40 days vacation and no friends. You think at 25 years you don’t have a vacation day trade that doesn’t protect the big 6, let alone the big 8 holidays.

I guess we just sell any lie that fits our personal agenda here, decrying the severity our insufferable working conditions.

Call me a liar if you want. The conversation went the way I said it did. Did I personally inspect the guys bid and verify his DOH.....of course not. Did I hear a senior guy gripe about having to go into open flying because he didn't get Christmas off....yes I did.

Kool Aid? I was merely pointing out the poster was dead wrong and misleading to anybody reading. I'm not fluffing anything up. People need a reality check that things are pretty good currently.

I'd hate to see how much complaining there would be if we didn't get billions in government handouts. Furloughs, downgrades, concessions etc etc. NONE of that means I don't want improvements in our sub standard contract.

NO 25 yr CA is suffering unless they chose to. Period, full stop. Go look at the schedule awards of anyone hired prior to 1996.

When I try to do the same, I get called a company yes man.

To anybody outside looking to get in, take all these forums with a grain of salt. Much like real life, it is rife with misinformation and fake news. You have to be careful and do your own due diligence. APC forums aren't going to be it - not for Alaska at least.

There is this thing called a CA list open flying DEC SEA. If you look you will see a couple 22-19 year guys… Usual suspects, dropping back to OF so they could pick up in November without a December line pushing them over 1000 in 12. Nothing but hard chargers pushing the open till on the register. I know just push it out there though if it fits your agenda, and that’s just what you did. Really hard to fact check, you must be CNN.

What does that have to do with anything? "It could be worse!" That's your argument?

This is exactly why Alaska lags behind in everything. Low self-esteem mixed with a dash of Stockholm Syndrome.

I love how you sound like a Sales Manager at some sleazy car dealership when you talk about open time whoring.
