Well said, very well said. It is a huge blow and really doesn’t come as a surprise.
Sure, it’s summer and SFO is about to drop.
Before I go, I would like to say how disappointed I am with the company’s stance on scope. I can’t believe they publicly say they want a modern contract yet somehow don’t understand what that means. BM and ST, this thing will unravel very quickly, it will take years to repair. No one here believes that lack of scope has benefited one Alaska pilot on the list, you only lose credibility. You look like Kamala when Lester says “You haven’t been to the border.”

This management has no clue how ****ed we are. I’ve been to the union cook outs and everyone I talked to there, is disgusted with the lack of REAL progress. They better catch a clue soon.

Been busy and haven’t listened to the latest podcast. Are these events coming south? Seems all are SEA area. Hope there are several spread out dates, being that it’s summer I’m sure many have vacation/family trips planned and will be out of town.

They started close to home for obvious reasons. They will be going to all of the bases. Schedule is up on Alaskapilots.org no login required.
You actually have to type that address into a browser and look at the screen though. There may be some mouse clicks involved too.
I believe in you.

Read your ALPA emails. There have been several references to these events and links to dates and details. Yes they are headed south.

The key piece to remember in all this. Their narrative and their negotiation strategy is unchanged in 30 years. It has worked for them for that long. It is only we that have changed(thanks in no small part to our redtail sisters and brothers). We have tipped the scale and we now own the critical mass. We need to use it. We also must stop referring to our union as “the union”. Ladner/Day/Minicuci/Tacket et al use that in all of their communications to create the myth that “the union” is a bunch of out of touch, negative trouble makers and they dont represent the majority....It needs to be “my union”, “our mec”, “our negotiating committee” etc etc....We need to be vocal about any of our membership who are holding management positions and working to our detriment. All of the chief pilots, the vp of flight ops, director of training, fleet captains etc are card carrying, dues paying union pilots who have benefitted immensely from working under our CBA. They are doing a full court press to try and drive a wedge into our unity.....Dont let them do it

I don't know about AS, but all the legacies would have absolutely furloughed (perhaps even SWA) if uncle sugar (US Feds) hadn't come in with $Billions$ to essentially pay companies not to furlough.
That's never happened before. After 9/11, many airlines furloughed and the feds didn't kick in jack. The Feds came up with the ATSB (Air Transportation Stabilization Board) which just had the feds guarantee loans for smaller airlines that didn't have any liquidity.

By any metric, COVID without the free $$$$ from the Feds would have resulted in thousands of airline employees in a furloughed status.

I was just watching on CNBC today where some (live performance) theater exec was screaming for moar .gov money; the two or three 'loans' (which turned to grants) weren't enough for his appetite, in spite of being open at a reduced capacity through most of the pandemic.
My point is that the airline industry wasn't a 'golden child' by any stretch.
