AS may have tried to sweep this under the rug, citing ongoing investigation. There's NO WAY the "investigation" has taken 8 months. They work much quicker than that.
AS management hates bad press like poison.

Just this headline will get him fired. AS has fired F/As for posting on their own webpage that they work for AS, especially if there are pictures of them drinking and partying.

Someone might have assumed the woman could be bought off with a six month paid vacation and the bad PR and HR issues could be avoided. If so, they clearly assumed wrong.

Not the way the elevator and hall security video cameras show it according to her lawyer. Of course the lawyer could be lying, but that would open the lawyer up to a civil action for slander, defamation of character, and even disbarment.
Nor does the fact that a company FA called this in as a potential problem make this look like some sort of morning after remorse or misunderstanding. And realistically, in this day and age, what sort of a person would take a risk like this, going to bed with a subordinate they scarcely knew? Military generals have been demoted and forced to retire for less. Should a senior pilot think it's going to be any different for him once this became public? Where was HIS judgment?

Attorneys ARE Liars by trade, or I should say they bend the truth to that of their client. But Video Camera's don't lie. This is truly a sad day as they post pictures of the parties involved for the World to see. This is also a wake up call for all of us to remember we're all on stage when at work and on layovers. We've all heard stories, and they usually end in "don't be that guy." My heart goes out to victim's - which in this is case is everybody.

Find another pilot to help you take her to her room. If not a pilot, an FA you trust. If none of the above, a hotel employee, but that could get back to the company.

This. And not to imply the FO was in the wrong in any way, but I'd never escort a female coworker who seemed really under the influence of something back to her room alone.
