Wasn't this a recent episode of Law&Order SVU?

There’s been plenty of questioning of the FOs actions around here… let’s flip it around….

Let’s assume you’re the CA and you know you’re 100% innocent. Your name is already in the papers, you’ve seen her on TV. Are you going to just sit there and take it? Or are you going to fight back, talk to the papers, get on TV and refute her story?

Even if you just messed up, drinking too much and let’s say it was consensual…everyone knows there’s a monumental difference between what’s alleged here and basic marital infidelity.

He's pretty much toast no matter what course of action he takes. Personally, I would change my name, and leave town. He's not at risk of jail time, since this appears to be a civil matter, between her and Alaska. However, if the court finds in her favor, he is liable whether he did it or not. Hooking up with Co-workers is at your own risk.

He's probably hired an attorney, and any attorney in this situation will tell you to shut up in the media and do your talking in court.

The DO pulling them off the flight under the circumstances doesn't mean much.

Well the company thought so or else they wouldn't have hired outside counsel to conduct a drug/alcohol investigation.

In early July, Pina said she detailed her allegations again to a lawyer, Marcella Reed, hired by the airline to investigate. The probe focused on whether Engelien and Pina potentially violated the company’s policy barring pilots from consuming alcohol within 10 hours before a scheduled flight, she said.

OK, so other crew called and complained. An investigation is not unwarranted. But does that mean anybody necessarily violated the limit?

Any attorney would tell you not to talk in court either, especially if this is a civil trial. You don't want to self incriminate. There is really no outlet to defend yourself here, beyond statements made through your attorney.

She blames the captain for putting her in that situation regardless of what happened, that's what it sounds like to me.

Yes, agree that would be the advice an attorney would give. And I’d gladly comply right up until my name was plastered all over media…for all your extended family, friends, co-workers, basically anyone whom ever knew you to see. No way I’d let that go unanswered….

He, at the very least, cheated on his wife with someone he barely knew. At the worst, he's a serial rapist. Yeah, his upstanding reputation is being unfairly smeared.

Respectfully, I think you’re missing what I’m trying to say here…read my post a few lines up (my response to sherpster). I’m saying, hypothetically, if I was the CA, and I KNEW I didn’t do it, I’d speak up, regardless of what the lawyers were advising.

And if that still doesn’t make sense, just know - for the record - I believe the FO.
