Default Application window?

Please be gentle, 🤓
I've been to Alaska's website and I must be missing something because I can't seem to find a place to apply. Window closed? They just went to OBAP, so I'm assuming the window is open. Do I need a secret handshake to find out where to apply? Also, I went Virgins website and they have a link to apply.
If I apply at VA is same as applying at Alaska?

Thx

Yes applying at virgin america will be the same as Alaska in the end. Currently they are still run as two seperate airlines. If you apply and get hired on at Virgin America, you will be a VX pilot flying an Airbus and be based in LAX, SFO, or NYC. Next year is when the seniority list integration will take place, where pilots from both companies will become one. No one knows what types of fences or restrictions there will be once it's out. But at some point you will be able to bid over to one of AS current bases if you choose to do so. I believe anyone hired after the Merger announcement date will fall in the new ISL based on date of hire. So if you really want Alaska, I would apply to both VX and AS and try to get on with whoever calls you

Thx for that info. Lax is my preferred base.

Alaska window was open a few months back. Most airlines open their windows before a job fair.

I would expect the Alaska window to open again this fall. The pool of pilots that will be placed in classes in the next few months will soon run dry meaning interviews will resume. Keep an eye on it and best of luck

Alaska only opens their application window twice a year and it's the only time you can "update" your information. I put update in quotes because by update your information I mean re-apply. It's a pain.

Ultimately Virgin and Alaska will be one company with one seniority list, so apply to both (right now just Virgin) and hope for the best. Keep an eye on this Alaska forum to find out when the Alaska window is open next time (easier than checking the Alaska website since we get an email before it's open to notify friends who want to apply).

LAX bases are junior at both companies so wouldn't be a problem getting it right away or shortly after being hired.

The last time they opened the window, they told those of us who already had applications on file that there was no need to reapply - they were retaining our applications for further consideration. But that also meant we could not update, because there is no mechanism for that in Alaska's application process. There were some who went ahead and reapplied so that they could update, and a few of those ended up getting TBNT letters. Oops.

I would just reapply next time it opens. Their application system sucks.

Yeah... I got a "thanks for applying" email, then a "TBNT" email, then a "please disregard the TBNT" email, then I got an interview and got hired.

I don't think there's a wrong way to go about applying. I would apply at every opportunity.

I had a similar experience and agree with the advice to apply to each open window.
