Yep, I'm enjoying ZW as well. I would agree that washouts come mostly from older 2nd career types. Anyone decently IFR current won't have an issue, and as long as you show a willingness to learn, they will help out as much as they can.

Back when I went through my sim partner was an older guy. It was just too fast pace for him and ultimately he couldn't keep up. It also didn't help he barely studied his flows and call outs and otherwise acted too care free about the situation. They worked with him and gave him more time but it was pretty clear he couldn't cut it. I also had a very close friend get through sim only to washout on ioe. They gave him about 100 hours but for whatever reason he couldn't get it. I knew the one lca who was working with him and they all hated having to let him go because he was a likeable guy, but in the end you have to perform and be safe.

Talked to an FO that moved on.
He was one of the 3 of 11 in his class that made it through training.( about 2 years ago.)
Wow! 8 people hired and fired, 80+ sim sessions gone to waste. Does that great training keep crews from trying to take off with no flaps? No.

No and no. To add to what others are saying, they're not out to fail you but they don't necessarily do a great job of setting you up to succeed. They're working hard on improving the quality of training and have already made some steps since my class went through. If you're reasonably sharp and put in the work, get info from previous classes, and work hard as a group, you'll be OK. Most failures I know of came from either ESL students or those with previous failures at other airlines.

Yeah, my main faults with the training program were a lack of standardization among the instructors for certain things, you would be with an instructor for one week than have another one teach it his way the next week. Also, while they have been trying to fix this, the training department has long had a culture of remembering irrelevant esoteric information such as windshield heat temperature. While that has been changing you can definitely feel that culture still exists within the training department, and has yet to filter out. That being said everyone there does want to get you through, and no one is out to get you. Just do whatever it takes to cooperate and graduate.
