I only worked for UAX, never for AA. Got retiree benefits on AA. I was there in UAX's inception 1982-2009.

My guess is backlog in the training department. Not enough sims, instructors or LCA’s.

They don’t put out CA vacancies unintentionally, they want/need those seats filled.

I'd think it would have to be, as they desperately need more captains. I've credited 140+ the last two months due to the abundance of captain open time.

It's because half the new hires keep failing out of training.

Totally inaccurate. How about post facts for once.

Looked like possibly 3 or 4 new hires on the last resignation list. They've been running two classes a month of various sizes. Saw a batch of maybe 12 a couple weeks ago in Appleton at the hotel headed to take a test.

Default Be Careful

I don't know the rate, but it is not uncommon.
I know 4-5 people recently.

If you don't have previous jet time in Part 121, or Part 135, it is not easy. You may want to consider somewhere else.

If your are young, with a sharp brain ,you may do ok.
I know one guy in his 20's that finished in 10 sims. If you are in your 50's, it is harder to learn, and you will most likely need extra sims, unless you are a seasoned jet pilot. For people already typed in the aircraft, it was fairly straight forward.

Some people are given multiple extra sims, if they see progress. Others are not given it. Some are given tons of IOE, 8 trips, some are not. If you draw a bear of an LCA, your checkride can be 100% more difficult then your classmate's. Same for IOE.

It was the words directly out of the mouth of a sim instructor.

Payday hotline from 2 days ago shows 9 27XXX#'s resigning last month. There's some facts.

Edit: The January 2018 seniority list also shows 10 "new hires" and only 3 of them are still here. Please correct me if my math is wrong, but I think that's actually more than half failing out.
