The insurance has to cost the company an absolutely insane amount of money.

We can kill two birds with one stone with better duty and trip rigs.

So the company can sit you around for 4 days? 4 x 5 equals 20 hours. I'd rather fly for 4 days and make 25 hours plus.
All protections are needed for the protection they provide. A higher min day would be nice for us and perhaps more attainable right now than some extreme raise.

Well sure.. Hypothetically but given the tenor of negotiations the past decade i think better rigs are one of the least likely things to come out of this. That hypothetical isnt even worth mentioning its so unlikely. We could play that game all day long. Considering how many lines are 12-13 days off and min guarentee, the only thing that could improve those piles of sht would be improved hard pay rates.

You guys make it sound like it's either/or. The comment I quoted said he would trade rigs for min day. I'm saying you have to negotiate considering all possibilities. Sure, there aren't too many high credit 4 days right now. (At least not in the PHL bids, I didn't look at the other bases). That's partly due to the transition and AA pull-down I suspect. But the contract was put together trying to achieve what they thought was best at the time. Should we add 5 hour min day? Absolutely. Remember, most of this contract was put in place in 2001! We gave back a bunch of money in 2003 as well. I would love to see something similar to what Southwest does where they make their money in 12 days of flying while I have to work 15-18. I don't need 30 hours in YUL. But it all has to be negotiated because the company will resort to the most cost-effective plan.
