Sorry to burst your bubble but United is already maxed out on scope and was before Kirby ever showed up. United has to drop the 50 seat flying down to 125 frames and they are mid 100s now. all 70/76 RJs have already been spoken for. There is no more RJ work for United unless you take planes from another RJ carrier.
Also Kirby didn't cancel the 737 order he deferred them. We start taking 100 737 max aircraft starting next year and those 60 deferments will be mixed in over the next couple years. They were NGs now they are Max's.

Been gone a couple of years, just checking in on the place. Sad to see that people are still buying this stuff. Best of luck to you guys.

If not AA there is certainly room for AWA elsewhere. I just finished reading a United article about how they want to expand their Chicago ops to some of the smaller Midwest airports that AA serves. With so many other regionals going for bigger planes, there is certainly room in the scope clauses for AWA to find its niche...

I think you're missing the point. If there is a new carrier to fly for, for example, there will be a transition period where AWA will not be able to provide services for the new carrier until they finish their contract with the old carrier. Then, you must get the Opspecs realigned for the new carrier so you can service their airports etc. The airline will have to pay many of the employees to sit around during that time. Plus, you can't exactly fly UAL flights with AA painted A/C... Finally, much more sitting around time must be paid while you train the employees to operate an entirely different fleet, if that were to happen....
Sure they say the AA flight schedule is gonna pick back up but i have my doubts. April is spring break, if it was gonna pick back up April should be the start of it.

How did we do it 15 years ago? I think everyone forgets our history, we had to change everything when we left UA. We managed it then and we can do it again. Right now the company is parking 12 aircraft in storage due to reduced flying. Don't you think they could paint those?

Yes everything changed from UAL to USair back then, but how quickly?

Well the stock purchase of Republic rumor is still alive, plus the merging of all AA wholly owned with AW, plus Delta flying, and finally just shutting down next Feb.
Relax for now. Show up and do your job with minimal beetching and go home without getting extended.

Well if you only paint 12 A/C out of 66, it'll probably take a while for the rest to come online.......... Unless UAL would want their brand represented by A/C painted in their direct competitor's livery..? How many employees sit while those planes are painted? $$$

Yes, anything is possible. Including a United pilot having any concrete knowledge of their management's future plans, just like how we know so much about ours
