I still can't believe ARW is telling people to say that they were laid off on their apps..

And now so many people are willing to put a completely untrue statement on their app because of a FB post.

Very strange times indeed.

I think it's interpreted that since they aren't defining a future at zw in less than 12 months the airline will be shutdown and everyone will be laid-off. These jobs aren't all like going to piedmont, a class date after talking to the chief pilot, they take time to interview, time to hear back and then months for a class date in a lot of cases.

In the end, stay inside your comfort zone, don't check the box if you're not comfortable with your interpretation, but the zw mec and ual mec have told the pilot group theirs and say it's ok.

I HOPE this is really happening to help awac pilots. But UAL MEC hasn't told the awac pilot group anything. We have no official communication from anyone at United. We have no official communication citing any names or offices of United personnel (Ex: Director of Hiring) to provide accountability. We also have no emails or announcements sent directly from UAL personnel OR ALPA (non-ARW).

And unfortunately there is no contract language supporting anything you just posted. In fact, the very language ARW cited in their email directly opposes the idea that awac is distressed. The UAL contract language is very specific to say that the pilot must have been laid off/unemployed due to carrier shutdown. If you have a job for at least the next 12 months and the company is negotiating a CPA, that doesn't sound like you have been laid off.....

The last two days have been very silent from all sides. With so much confusion that's a huge disservice to the workforce, for both the company and the union.

Ual talking a majority of awac pilots will kill Americans operations.. i wouldn't be suprised if this happens. It's going to be a competition for pilots soon just like securing gas a few years ago.. survival of the fittest...

Hang on guys, good things for good people. You people are good people!

They can take AWAC pilots just fine without issuing a distressed carrier status. That line of thinking doesn't make any sense.

HR runs hiring. They won't focus on hiring pilots from a single carrier to hurt a competitor, they're not smart enough to do that.

Hahah! You actually think if AWAC can't fly their airplanes it will result in "killing" AA operations? I highly doubt it! How many AWAC pilots has UA hired under "distressed carrier"? My guess is just as many as before. What about all the other distressed regional? Republic is in bankruptcy. UA app needs a regional/distressed box.

Wrong. They're smart enough NOT to do that. The scary thing about war is that there is always a loser.

True and not true. Remember this whole airlineapps "points" idea was created to prevent lawsuits and unfair hiring practices. You need to hit their minimum point threshold through airlineapps. They can't just cherry-pick AWAC guys. Though this distressed carrier status may allow some captains with strong resumes to get an interview I can't believe it'll help many FOs. Perhaps those that attend United job fairs may have a chance but without knowing for sure.

Luckily the LLCs are hiring at a good pace too, so it seems everyone can leave if they so choose.

I don't mean to fan the rumor flame but I talked to a manager the other day who said he expects something announced within the month. Though no one except the board members and CD really know what's going on, it seems like there's a lot of things going on in Appleton. The CD email coupled with the email from the chairman of the board of directors make it seem as though something will happen sooner rather then later. It makes sense too if their worried United will take our captains and other regionals and LLCs will take the fos. We have about 510 pilots now and if attrition keeps up well be less than 475 by March.
