Now you're just talking at me. The conversation has to go both ways, billy. You asked me why American was so low on my list of majors, and I answered you. That's the only reason I brought up the flow. Because YOU asked me to
Then I asked you very simple questions about the flow, but you refused to answer. You just deflected because you knew the truth, that my concerns were legit. Why is that so hard to admit?

Maybe... but that doesn't change the fact that AALs primary hiring plan is to hire a significant portion or individuals that lack the ambition or ability to get hired anywhere else; not all but a good segment therein. Two separate topics as mentioned before.

Why would a competitive individual trying to move on still be at PSA, PDT, ENY after 10 years instead of DAL, UAL, FEX, UPS, SWA? I did qualify my statement with "not all"... even if it's 25% of the hired population with the inability to get hired at one of those, that's pretty high. I'm definitely interested in hearing the opposing view though.

Thank you Dubz. It's something that is so easy to see, I just can't imagine why billy has so much trouble admitting it. The flow is a great backup plan for pilots, but the lack of any standards set by American is a problem. Is that so wrong to say?
There's a reason zero of the other majors are using a flow. They actually care who they are putting in that seat. Dougie only cares about $$, and cutting costs has always produced a safer product...

Flow programs will slow down over the next few years. Envoy flow will decreased to 15%. PSA is already paying qualified CAs 200% to cover FO trips. Don't know much about PDT. Last year AA didn't hire too many off-the-street pilots. I already know of 3 AWAC pilots with scheduled interviews for Jan. (1 f2f and 2 video). Flow obviously isn't helping all the good non-flow pilots get hired, hopefully that will change in 2017. I can honestly say that PDT and Envoy have great guys! Envoy guys who are flowing now went through an AA type interviews 15+ years ago. I think majority of the guys flowing today are good qualified pilots. The problem will be down the road when the flow will go down to 2-3 years.

I'll ask again. Exactly what part of the flow prevents a guy from sitting right seat for 10 years, busting upgrade training and who knows how many other training events from flowing to American? Let's also say he has a poor discipline and attendance record. He still gets to flow, right? If the worst of the worst can get in no-questions-asked, what does that say about the future of American's culture and pilot group?
They have to get through initial training and probation. Many have been let go during that time.

I agree with everything you said BUT the bad seeds are less than 5% of the flow group. The corporate culture will not change because of those guys. For most part everyone flowing to AA and currently employed by AA are qualified and overall good pilots. Like I said before, I would love to see more AWAC pilots join AA, unfortunatelly flow is making that difficult.

And only one line of defense? In this business?? It's like flying over the ocean in a single piston. I'm sure 95% of the time the engine won't fail. Ok maybe this is a little dramatic but you get what I'm saying..
Fortunately the pilots flowing now are at least highly experienced. I have little doubt 95%+ of the current flows are great candidates. We'll just have to see what happens when philly's finest and his ilk get the call.

To me that's a small net in a big sea.

It's the same as every other airline. What else do you want? A 100 question engineering test and then a bunch of TMAAT questions?
