Can someone please explain the logic behind keeping the apu off while coming in. We work at a company that isn't willing to negotiate fair compensation; one that doesn't pay for fuel; and although they pay for cycles on the apu, fvc! them. Turn that thing on at 12,000 instead of starving the cabin of airflow when you pull the thrust levers to idle during descent and the 20 minute taxi. I think it would be different if we were getting bonuses and profit sharing checks, but we are not.

Turning the apu off in warm weather in a 200?? It's like a sauna in the, back of that raggedy thing anyway.Remove the extra Air from the apu....whew.
I wouldn't want to be in the back

An interesting point was made to me today..... for those of you holding out hope for something great; that hope is gone. For those of you holding out hope that we will be save by an acquisition; the pilots on the seniority list would probably not be eligible for a new hire bonus. You would be entitled to the longevity bonus if there is one in place, but as for an upfront 20,000.00 sign on bonus, no. I hope all of you get out and get to go to a place of your choosing and not a default lateral move because you can't or didn't get in elsewhere.
But food for thought. It would probably be better to go sooner than later when the sign on bonus is beyond your grasp because you waited just too long.

Aside from rambling and being incoherent, it's flawed logic. People trying to leave are trying to go to a LCC or major. They aren't offering any bonus. Those people staying, aren't going to voluntarily go to a regional until the doors close and lights go out and they have no other option. You think some 99xx number is going to jump at a bonus at PSA? Only the bottom of the list right now is making lateral moves. For the rest of us, it's a last resort.

Do you see downgrades in the near future?

A 99xx number has had a decade to GTFO. There is something in their background that is most likely preventing them from leaving. I even flew with 99xx's that got hired at CAL prior to the 2008 recession. They were CA's in 2005.

The 12's, 14's, and 16's have all moved on for the most part as well if they have been hustling. Where is junior CA nowadays? I'm guessing in the 22's? Those are the guys who have a really touch decision to make. They could jump over to CommutAir or Piedmont and be instant CAs. Plus get a $15k to $20k bonus. They will likely make more money year one than they would as a junior CA at AWAC.

Any and ALL junior FOs should be bailing. ASAP. AWAC reminds me of XJT when they started downsizing.

Any FO on property needs to look at other regionals. I've been at AWAC almost 3 years and I'm making a lateral and start class next week at a new airline. With the bonus money plus a upgrade in the next couple months I'll be making a substantial amount more and I'll have job security.

If any of you guys have questions about Piedmont shoot me a PM.

I'm not bottom of the list (top 25% FO) and PSA, PDT, etc are still last resorts for me. I'd much rather, especially at my age, move on to a LCC I'd be happy at if I never get a call from mainline- which is certainly a high probability.

Smart move. Any other than tip top FO's best case scenario at AWAC is upgrade possibility over several years. That assumes they keep the 60 airplanes going indefinitely.

Your worst case scenario at a Piedmont and CommutAir for example is instant upgrade (provided you have the 1000 SIC) and $15k/$20k bonus your first year to help seal the deal.

For those of us near the top of the FO list...we don't even have the "impending upgrade" to keep us here since that seems like deep into spring before that happens...I sense some CA's could come crashing down on us before that.

A lateral move is not a no-brainer but it would not be detrimental if made under the right circumstances. As each day goes by, I would feel less and less like I would "regret it"
