I think all of us now are starting to feel the pains of this company spiraling out of control. We have been told now for the last year or so that something will come soon, We were told they delta is still having meetings with us and that every airline has been approaching us to do flying since we were the only ones who could staff about a year ago. Now look at us, within a year how much this place has tanked and eveyone in Appleton is sitting around like nothing is happening. I can think of a few people including myself who want to get their apps out even if it's a lateral move. There are better options out there now. It's gonna take now quite a bit to get people to come here. I truely believe management has done some irreversible damage to this company bascicslly by doing nothing at all. We have hit a point where the only thing we can do if sloppily put something together just to get some warm bodies in the training department and stop this hemorraging of pilots.
When I interviewed we were told 3-6 monthes of reserve, yet I know people going on 16 monthes now in LGA. My sim partner bascicslly packs for a 6 day trip everytime now because they keep extending him every time they call him. This place is out of control. Yet the next thing we hear from management will be some off topic email from the fuel savings people saying we have the best fuel savings and the best on time record and least amount of cancelled flights and best engines and everything else of how we are the best at this or that and not show is the numbers or CD saying how she's proud of how hard we work and to keep it up and things are in the works.

Like the other recent poster...I have cheerleaded this company on here...the working conditions make it a good choice...but the lack of info about a future...does not make it a good choice... especially for new hires...

This place was great, but now it's hard to be positive about anything. I've been told they maintain once we get through the summer busy season everything will be fine, that's assuming staffing stays where it is, which it is not. I know plenty of people fixing to leave this winter with no announcement, and CD has said there isn't one, so I imagine next summer, our last summer, will be a hell of a time with everyone leaving.
Management keeps saying have faith in them, it's hard to. Clearly negotiations aren't going anywhere, there's no reason for people to come here or a reason for people to stay. Morale out on the line is terrible and the product American provide is awful. The planes are breaking, they're dirty, it's horrendous for our passengers.
Schedulers are doing the best with what they're given, but even then they try and circumvent the contract and force flying that shouldn't happen. There's no flexibility on moving anything these days because they're probably under the gun too.
Don't come here, don't stay here, everyone should be trying to get out. They've said we're shrinking, they have no long term plans, it's truly a shame what this company has turned into because management thinks our reputation is what's going to save us.

Yes everyone...don't confront people as you may not know the entire situation. BUT, document, document, document.
Just like they tell us instructors regarding students we may have to fail...it's not our job to staff the airline just train them, if they don't make the grade we find someone else.
Same here...it's our job to fly the contract...if the company can't staff...they still have to fly the contract not give out iPads or liberally interpret work rules just to cover their poor strategic planning.

I took a plane from one. They are not asked but told to fly as FOs.
Many don't agree with that but it's either fly now and grieve it later or its insubordination.
