Juniormanning was always an interesting process. As far as the rest goes we (well... they, rather, since I am no longer there) would verify the crew member had 10 hours off duty. After that, it would be up to the crew member to assess their fitness for duty. Also, as everyone is aware, ATW SOC procedures dictate we (they) do EVERYTHING possible, and then some, to cover a flight before it is canceled for any reason. This includes running through the entire juniorman list, (under some circumstances, including the "ALL" list) even at stupid o clock in the morning, prior to moving forward with a cancellation or delay. Then after the junior man list, we start looking at delay and reroute options. Or moving in the RRAs from a different domicile. Like I said. I'm not there anymore. I'm sure the staffing is bleak at best. But honestly, it always was during my tenure there, especially during integration. I know CS isn't the favorite department, but they are owed some credit. The fact they are able to put the puzzle together for both pilots and FAs, in the most challenging operational environment in the world, and consistently perform among the best, if not the best AAG regional feed, all with 2 schedulers and a coordinator on duty at any time purely amazes me.
As far as the contractual language for juniorman's go (I could be wrong.. it's been awhile since I've seen the contract), there really isn't any. We have to start at the bottom of the list, you have to have had legal rest, and you cannot get juniormanned more than 10 times in a year. That's really about it.

They may or may not give you a new TA faster with additional cancellations. The way that AAG has been looking at things recently is that if you are not performing well (low completion factor), then they will award you less flying and not pay extra for subpar service.
I hope they give you additional money, but be careful. You are just as likely to receive less flying instead.

It's going to take more than minor improvements to attract people in any significant numbers to a dying regional. Considering the last TA was concessionary, I wouldn't expect anything more than maybe possibly minor improvements in the next one. If you want to attract people it's additional flying and decreasing upgrade. Our upgrade is 5+ and increasing as our fleet shrinks.

They didn't get the short end of the stick. They got what their seniority can hold. The four people that were revised happened because they were left out illegally.

I've heard rummors of something like this in the works. Even a zero to hero program like jetblue has, almost like a ab initio program, but just for a regional which is laughable. If they only knew how crappy those travel benefits are.
Meanwhile, they do nothing to retain those who are here already or to boost the morale.
If there is one take away, it's that it hints that the company is not shutting down anytime soon. Although, I do believe that what will remain will be a small airline. ~20-30 airframes.
I just wish that they would invest that money on bonuses and retention bonuses and commuter hotels instead of having guys with 252.4 hours total time on salaries.
