It is great for the CA Reserves as many of them have been languishing in that spot. For the FOs...this may hasten departures in their ranks as the anemic upgrade rate will just make other options that much more attractive.
The way they are paring down the reserves it's almost like an accounting trick to get them to the low season so maybe they don't have to upgrade at all until next year.
I hope this "Big News" at the "end of the summer" proves me wrong...but which end will it be? School Summer break end? End of Meteorological Summer? End of the Astronomical Summer?

The news is that mgmt signed a contract for seven years with a new heavy check company. So that was probably "the big news." It is probably similar to a sports contract, X years extendable to Y years $_____ guaranteed.

Are you serious? Do you think that if AWAC had a "big announcement" in this environment that they would use it so that they could fill a class and/or retain a captain or two? There are captains leaving, FO's leaving, and the inability to attract new hire pilots. Oh, and fuselages of a plane that was flying revenue a few months ago is now on eBay. Pilot group has shrunk by over 100 pilots YoY.

Yeah I am serious...this CEO got burned by the Delta deal...so she is not gonna say anything publicly until it's signed. If there is a deal to be signed....so either way we are in the dark. If you saw my other recent post you can see I have little faith they would hit the "end of summer" for an announcement...probably delay that just like this last upgrade was an exercise in fuzzy math.

I wasn't quite sure what you meant until I read and re-read the vacancy notice and saw the maximum backfills.
Come September, as always been the case, our flying gets reduced and then kicks back up around November or December. Then drops off until March
Then increases. It would be nice if we can get more flying away from the chaotic east coast

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but....the big announcement rumor was from Eddie to a capt here. It was "big news coming" for EDDIE. This was before his promotion and MP's taking if the CP job. Doesn't mean there isn't an announcement coming, as something will have to happen if this place is to remain an airline. The recent vacancy announcement leads me to believe it will continue to operate, and continue to shrink.
